With it taking this long I think Wade has a real chance. McNair is behind him, I could see some key defensive players being behind him to (Watt). I'm all for a change even though I like Wade, I think its best to clean house.
It's really not taking long. To fans it is, but O'Brien officially became the coach today. Wade was already told he could explore other opportunities if he wanted to.
Sorry, I read it as oc. . Yeah, qb coach isn't too big of investment to base on who you are drafting.
I really cant see that happening. O'Brien wants to run a hybrid defense that keeps the defense on it's toes. One that stops the run but is adaptable to today's passing oriented schemes. I'm almost certain we'll see moving pieces, strange packages, diverse playcalling and a defense that evolves over the course of a game. Not Wade's "play our game and execute" and get to the quarterback, blitzing 34 (not trying to bash him, just describing the philosophy as I perceive it, a philosophy that can work if the DB's are talented enough).
Pancakes says Romeo is in play. Say what you want about Crennel as a head coach, as a DC, that'd be tough to top. http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...o-crennel-for-defensive-coordinator-position/
I want Romeo Crennel as the DC so bad. He's the perfect guy as a DC for a first time NFL head coach. Players universally love Romeo. Everywhere he goes his players sing his praises and none of them can understand why he fails as a HC. Now that he's probably done getting HC opportunities, he'd make a great DC that you don't worry about jumping on you after a year.
Yes, I am just looking at the stat sheet but what's the big fuss? 2 great years, a few solid years, the rest, meh. Spoiler <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=pfr&url=%2Fcoaches%2FCrenRo0.htm&div=div_coaching_ranks"></script>

This guy is very animated. He does the worm on the field, with no shirt, in cold weather to get the players fired up. I'll try to post some links to videos later on. Link to the "report" from coachingserch.com (Fitzgerald blurb is at the very bottom of the page).

He's not really doing the worm, more like a modified push-up I suppose. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/uvK3UaPGReI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Here's a profile video about him.
This guy and Brian Cushing are gonna be best friends. They both have the same hormones pumping at the same levels.
Romeo Crennel a possible DC choice for texans http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/03/report-texans-could-have-interest-in-crennel-to-fill-coordinator-role/
I was at a Penn State game earlier this year, and that guy was insane. It was freezing cold (I thought I was going to get frostbite in my three layers of clothing) and snow was coming down hard. But he was wearing a T-shirt and shorts and was running up and down the sidelines trying to pump everyone up. Can't speak to his actual job skills, but he'll definitely bring some of that fiery attitude to Houston that we've been sorely lacking.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Two NFL teams have inquired about hiring inquired about hiring Louisville OC Shawn Watson as an OC or QB coach.</p>— Pete Thamel (@SIPeteThamel) <a href="https://twitter.com/SIPeteThamel/statuses/419323962095448065">January 4, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Very interesting if it's the Texans. Apparently Bridgewater and Watson have such a close relationship that they can't help but cry when they speak about each other. Bridgewater considers him a father. Whoever's interested in him definitely has their eye on Bridgewater, I think.

Wade's not all that bad. Anyone's better than Frank Bush though.
