My popps always told me that as a black man, I'll need to work twice as hard to get half as much. Look no further than this thread for affirmation.
what post in particular is the problem? ...can't have a pity party without proof people are truly trying to have a mature dialogue...but many benefit from squashing any conversation on the topic
Dumb thread...there are examples of all types of quarterbacks (with different race/intelligence/upbringing) and they all have some varying degrees of success or failure. The most important thing to being a successful QB outside of your own abilities is having talent around you and having a good coaching staff. A QB has success by being talented and having the will and work ethic to be great. Black white brown yellow blue purple doesn't matter. Teams will give always you a chance. Now second/third/fourth chances might not be as readily available to you depending on your attitude/how your first chance went.
see that's just it you want to come in here any squash all conversation on the topic by simply playing the race pity party game and not engaging in a mature dialogue. You swoop in, drop the race pity party card, and take your ball and go home. Are you mature enough to allow discussion? Or do you simply want the privilege of making others shut up without any further discussion?
Hey now, maybe he'll change his mind about something through reasoned dialogue and discussion. Facts and logic, after all, dominate his thoughts and emotions.
Repped. It's a shame that Santiago didn't respond to your questions? I'm sure he/she saw it since he/she popped in to respond to a later post. Hmmmm.........
actually no that guy was trying to prove an unrelated point about natural born smarts. It only matters how smart the guy is when it's time for the draft. Doesn't matter how he was shaped by experiences, society, etc along the way. This isn't a thread that is trying to prove or disprove blacks' inherent mental capacity vs. other races. As far as I know everybody is born with the same mental potential.
Ok, let's discuss. So if natural born smarts are unrelated, and it doesn't matter how he was shaped by experiences, society, etc. And the only thing that matters is how smart the guy is when it's time for the draft. All your words... How could you possibly argue that race is a factor? Are you arguing that?
I've been on this BBS long enough to know that engaging with you is pointless, but in response to the thread's title, FV Santiago said: He acknowledges that other factors such as class and experience play into intelligence. But, he answered that race - the taxonomical classification of humans based on, primarily, physical attributes - somehow correlates to natural born intelligence. That's the question this thread poses and, so far, he's been unable to prove that intelligence and mental capacity is derived from skin color.
If one race tends to be less intelligent on draft day, it matters. It's not an absolute rule of course, because there will be exceptions, but looking at averages, there are differences in test scores by race. Do you disagree with that?
you still don't get it you are interjecting race "at birth" the concept of race at the time of the draft is different because of experiences, culture, upbringing, etc (but not an absolute rule, as I've stated)
I don't think HE's the one interjecting "race at birth", I think he's pointing out his disagreement with Santiago, who brought up "race at birth".
