It wouldn't be a bad idea if it's only the REAL nickname that have been synonymous to the players' names. Examples: Pistol Magic Dream Shaq But I don't know how to prevent stupid nicknames from getting on jerseys.

As a family friend, I can tell you that NeNe didn't like the move at first. He was told that it would help develop a fan base and recognition, instead of people always messing up his first and last name. His family holds a HUGE sense of pride with their names, but he figured it was best for him in the long run. At home, NeNe is normally called "PaPi" fyi .
I don't know about all that. You've gotta put a lot of blame on injuries, J-Kidd and some players for not playing an ounce of defense. I don't know who thought KG and Pierce were going to take total control at their age. On paper, IMO, that team is one of the most talented and "smart" rosters around. There just isn't any life in Brooklyn right now. I don't know that they're "losers" though. I'd give that title to the Knicks
To be fair, Chandler and Amar'e have had their share of injuries too. In fact, your second sentence can apply to the Knicks if you sub "J-Kidd" with "Woodson."
Then perhaps "2nd Losers"? All jokes aside the team has had a mix of bad luck injuries (Lopez/Williams), too much faith in the vets (KG/Pierce) to be their saviors, hiring a non experienced coach, and having Joe Johnson as their highest paid player. This season they've gotten the whole problem bag dumped on top of them.
I'm not sure, but they're doing a great job of turning off fans like myself in exchange for... whomever likes this crap (ten year olds, I guess?)
