I presume that since the cherry has been broken and coaches will stop trying to convert black quarterbacks into wide receivers or defensive backs they will have a lot of success on the field. The media will still rave about white quarterbacks "leadership" and black ones "athleticism" regardless of how similar they end up being, though. Par for the course.
At the risk of troll-feeding, you might consider the possibility that the NFL historically was very slow in giving black QBs the opportunity to play. Warren Moon went undrafted in a draft that had Matt Cavanaugh and Guy Benjamin drafted in the 2nd round. Giff Frickin Neilsen was drafted by the Oilers in the 3rd. And that's forgetting the likelihood that colleges, and high schools, and levels below that funneled potential black QB talent to other positions like WR and RB. Looking at the raw historical #s of black QBs and extrapolating from that about levels of intelligence is just a way to justify Jimmy the Greek level racist ideology.
I don't know if it's because I'm just paying more attention to the league, but there's 2 right now I can name that have done this (Webb and M.Brown). I can't name the other past attempts, and thought this was gonna be the experimental trend moving forward rather than an old practice.
What you fail to understand that because of race relations in this country black quarterbacks weren't delt a fair hand... But more times than not the ones that were had success. Doug Williams was the first one to be given a real opportunity and that didn't happen till the 80's... Can't really make an assessment when Black QBs just started getting the opportunity in the past 30 years... Right now there is Cam, RG3, Geno, EJ, Russell, and Kapernick playing QB for teams. Not sure if Campbell, Freeman, or Pryor will get another chance. That's 4 playoff QBs out of 6 with one making it to the super bowl. And you have Bridgewater coming out this year and Famous Jamies coming out next year. This is a subject that can be better debated in the next 5-10 years. But as of right now _ the NFL doesn't agree with you because besides Luck and maybe Foles _ the best young quarterbacks in the NFL are black...
Of course differences in athletic ability and intelligence present themselves between races overall. However, any general difference between races is close to meaningless on an individual basis, statistically. It's just pure numbers. The best Center in the NBA until very recently was a 7'6" Chinese guy, and the best golfer in the world has been a half-black half-Asian guy for the past 15 years.
I would say they are more athletic than a good 80% of the humanity maybe 90% I would not call them unathletic. . . . they only unathletic compared to other NFLers Rocket River
Cap and Wilson are halfsies OP, race doesn't play any factor at all in QB success. It's how hard you are willing to work and study. Manning and Brady are good because they spend hours soaking up scouting reports and video. If you do not dedicate yourself to the knowledge side of the game you won't make it as a starting QB. David Carr, Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, Vince Young...these guys probably did a lot of film study but probably didn't soak up the information or understand how to apply that information to on-field performance. A higher level of intelligence is necessary. Cam Newton, will be the next black QB to win a SB. Maybe this year. We shall see.

So do you believe that NFL GMs and coaches (many of which are black) are racist when dealing with the quarterback position, but not so in dealing with all other positions? This makes no sense to me, as all GMs and coaches will do whatever it takes to win and preserve their jobs. There have also been many highly drafted black QBs such as Akili Smith, Jamarcus Russell, RG3, Vick, McNabb, Vince Young, EJ Manual, Daunte Culpepper, Steve McNair, and Randall Cunningham. So the "fair hand" argument is not strong. Listing QBs does not suggest they are above average players. We are discussing QB success, not QB existence. Can you name how many black QBs have won the MVP award? The answer is 1. Steve McNair shared it with Peyton Manning in 2003. 1 is the same number of Super Bowls that black QBs have won (Doug Williams). The racial composition of the QB position being so dramatically different than other positions proves the point regarding the OP's question, does it not? Regardless of the causation of this situation, the point is proven -- race does factor into QB success. Hard to argue with the hard data.
Very true. If Bridgewater was white his stock would go up and if Manziel was black he would get the Vince Young treatment. It's tough for a black qb in this league... if more won superbowls I think it wouldn't be as bad... a lot of politics in that though.
Smith, Jamarcus, Vick, Randall, D-Pep, Young, McNabb, Steve, RG3, and Cam. That's 10 highly drafted black quarterbacks and 8 of them are playoff QBs with 2 of them making it to the super bowl (Steve and McNabb) and Randall and Vick making it to the NFC championship. 8 out of 10 is an excellent ratio... And the more you talk the more you make a case that black quarterbacks should be looked at even more. I didn't mention EJ because he was more of a surprise draft pick and taken outside the top 10 and only has one year in the books...
