Ignorance, lack of compassion for humanity in general, lack of education and/or access to other ideas, poverty, lack of self-identity -- these are a the central frailties that corrupt religions.

The most dangerous people on earth, whether in religion or politics, are those who know that they and their ideology/dogma are correct all of the time and those who disagree with them are ignorant and a useless liability.

Religious -- or political -- tolerance is possible only when one understands the strengths, weaknesses and motivations of his or her own soul, which, in turn, allows one to understand the strengths, weaknesses and motivations of others. in short, the failings of mankind are the failings of religion, not the failings of God.

Happy New Year to each of you and may the grace of God smile on us all.

    This is a terrible rebuttal.

Read The Political Violence of the Bible and the Koran by Bill Warner in the American Thinker.

This article points out that about 67% of the Sira is devoted to Jihad. The Islamic trilogy (the Quran, Hadith and Sira) contain 9.6 times as much violence as the Hebrew Bible (there New Testament has none).

"The political violence of the Koran is eternal and universal. The political violence of the Bible was for that particular historical time and place. This is the vast difference between Islam and other ideologies. The violence remains a constant threat to all non-Islamic cultures, now and into the future." - Bill Warner

Here is a decent (but pretty long) read comparing the most violent passages in the Bible with just some of the violent passages in the Quran:

    Islam's Latest Contributions to Peace:

2013.12.30 (Volgograd, Russia) - A bus is blown up by a suicide bomber, leaving at least sixteen dead commuters.

2013.12.29 (Kwajffa, Nigeria) - Boko Haram shoot four people to death at a Christian village.

2013.12.29 (Volgograd, Russia) - Children are among the casualties when a female suicide bomber detonates at a train station, killing at least eighteen.

2013.12.28 (Tashan Alede, Nigeria) - Pro-Sharia advocates storm a bachelor party and randomly shoot guests.

2013.12.28 (Pattani, Thailand) - Muslim 'separatists' shoot a 5-year-old girl in the head.

2013.12.28 (Karachi, Pakistan) - Sunni radicals fire on a rival religious scholar, killing two of his guards.

I came to the US from an Islamic country. Every day I count myself blessed to have escaped the plague of Islam.

Why do you feel the need to defend maniac violent religious people? Obviously they aren't all crazy wackjobs but to act like a large percentage of them aren't extremist crazies is just delusional.

You're the one arguing that Islam doesn't breed violence, and you say he lives in a fantasy world? That's irony right there.

People are violent therefore all religions are violent. Did you take U.S. History in high school?

Stats don't lie. All religions are violent.

Why is nobody providing any stats?

You guys have no idea what's going on in Egypt and Syria, so if that's your only evidence then you have no argument.

12,533 murders. That's the number you bring me. Listen, I don't care what you think makes a murder good or what makes murder bad. These Sunni's are fighting their war. Whether it's a good war or bad is irrelevant.

Now, 12,533 is nothing when 22,062,427 murders resulted from WWI, 48,231,700 from WWII, 100 million Indians were exterminated, all of which had nothing to do with Muslims. This isn't close to all of it.

    Get off your high horse.

what? did you even read the stat? 12k is the number of terrorist deaths in 2011. 70% of those were Sunni Muslims. This is according to some US federal agency. This agency is claiming Islam accounts for a vast majority of the terrorists murders (at least in 2011).

not sure you know what that expression means. You would say this when someone is claiming moral or intellectual superiority. That doesn't apply here.

Because the ones I posted don't mean the same to you or many others who posted in this thread.

It's difficult to argue that Islam isn't the most violent religion right now -- all religions have this problem, but Muslims are currently front and center.

Post some stats. Biased media reports are not everything.

When in a weakened political position just blame the media... why don't you post some stats on the religion of peace?

Already did, check a few pages back. Biased assumptions are just as weak.
