You have effectively a third round and 6th round pick already for the O-line assuming Williams can recover from micro-fracture surgery. David Quessenberry should be back too (though he seems like a Zone guy)

The Texans selected North Carolina offensive tackle Brennan Williams with the 89th overall pick in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Williams (6-6, 318) was a two-year starter at right tackle at North Carolina. He played in a pro-style offense and was teammates with Texans quarterback T.J. Yates as a freshman and sophomore. He will compete for the Texans’ starting right tackle spot as a rookie.

“He’s a big man; he’s got long arms, two big things that you look for,” Texans offensive line coach John Benton said. “He’s really a pretty good athlete from that standpoint, but I really liked his play-style. I thought he fit what we did. He’s aggressive.

“He’s a finisher. You see all kinds of guys all along the line. Some are perfectly content to keep their guy out of the play and as long as that happens, then that’s the baseline and they’re pretty happy. Brennan likes to put people in the ground and wear them out over the course of the game

The line was made to look really bad when you had Keenum in there waiting and waiting and waiting....and not anticipating the blitzes.

Interesting article out of pen state land.

    http://www.pennlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/01/bill_obrien_the_outsider_arriv.html

The timing is interesting too. The statements from BOB came in Dec 4 and Kubiak was fired on Dec 6. We won't ever know but it's possible that Bob reached out to BOB through back channels and already had a good feel for BOBs interest before Kubiak was fired.

IIRC, during the post firing press conf, Bob indicated that the timing would help them in the coaching search. Or maybe that was post firing commentary from the press.

Welcome Coach O.B.! Hope he's over on Kirby now with that #8 jersey on fire and a smudge stick clearing up that stink of failure.

I get that but no one in their right mind drafts a RT or a Guard with the first pick in the draft.

You must have not watched much this season. Johnny stayed in the pocket a lot more this year. Sure, he hurt teams with his feet, but not the crazy plays from his freshman season. This year he looked a lot more like Russell Wilson than he did last year. I watched all of Johnny's games this year and all of Wilson's games with Seattle. This year they looked eerily similar. The key to Wilson's success is that he uses sliding and getting out of bounds to greatly reduce the number of hits he takes. Johnny started following that mold some this year. He needs to expand upon that to be successful in the league. An NFL coaching staff will work on that with him.

Do I want a Russel Wilson type QB on this team? Hell yes I do.

The difference between JFF and Wilson is all above the shoulders...

Unsurprisingly, all the Aggies are coming out in droves to extol the greatness of Manziel.

Someone start a "JFF, the GREAT" thread so we can get this "history repeating itself" crap out of the way now.

Wake me up when Manziel gets drafted by a divisional rival and opens a steak house in College Station.

Manzel is by no means trash but if you draft him, you'd have to be VERY smart about the offensive system you set up around him. Unlike some of the recent QB draft busts (Blaine Gabbert, Tim Tebow), Johnny Football has bonafide QB skills - he can read defenses, go through the progressions and make all the throws. He has everything positive you want in a college QB and he can make plays when everything falls apart. Sumlin & Kingsbury have done an excellent job with him. But he does have his shortcomings such as his tendency to lob balls up for grabs. Plus, his scrambling exposes him to vicious hits that could lead to an injury that could derail his progress (see RGIII). The biggest question I have about Manzel concerns his maturity: does he possess the maturity and mental makeup to handle the on field AND off field demands of being a pro QB. After all, you are asking him to become the face of your franchise and you want to be sure that he'll be able to handle the spotlight and not end up consumed by all of the glamour and the glitz (see Vince Young).

This looks cool but you guys can't ignore how incredible Manziel is. There's a chance he has a higher ceiling. He just has that it factor
