Console Wars Thread! PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U Fight!

Agree with you here, that's just resistance to change. The blade interface sucked; and the "New Xbox Experience" was very good. On the PS4 there's definitely some things I would change, but I am certainly not missing the ads. Paying $60 a year for Xbox Live while they double dip off ads = not cool.

 

Could you elaborate on this? Is it sarcasm? I've read more bad things about the Ouya than good, but I was really excited about it when it was announced.

Don't want to go far off topic in a ps3 thread, but this doesn't quite deserve it's own thread. Unless everybody's interested in the Ouya?

I got NBA 2K14 for XBone. Looks great, plays alright, but it's featureless and crashes. Apparently it's an issue for no next gen consoles. Go and have a look at some forums about the game. Even the official forum is full of people that are saying the game is broken.

I took it back, got a refund. I was angry that it's a next gen title and they stripped so many features from it.

 

Probably shouldn't have wasted time with the current-gen version and spent more time working on the next-gen for all 3 platforms because getting the same current-gen game on PC is total BS on their part.

 

is there a game for the PC that is as good if not better than GT6? Also want to setup a kickass karaoke application just like the one on Nintendo Wii U.

2k hates PC. No VC. Getting dunk/3pt contests a year after consoles. Shafting PC won't reduce piracy!

 

Well, in their defense, they're not charging the same price as the console versions (360/PS3) for the PC versions of their game.

 

How are returns handled? I was at best buy trading in nba2k14 and saw a couple of people returning one system for the other. One of them mentioned something about their controller continually disconnecting, but that's not the point. I was curious if it still counts as a sale if it was returned for being defective? not exchanged.

I asked the women at the counter, who told me she works there for over twelve years and she said they have gotten a lot of returns for that same system.

 

Early reports stating that PS4 is just killing Xbone in Europe in terms of sales. For the US, it seems to be around even for both(slightly ahead by the PS4). Considering that the PS4 was on limited supply, it's sales are pretty damn impressive. Xbone too(but not in Europe)

 

Of course the Xbone is gonna sell more with Titanfall. I did say that Xbone had a successful launch/Holiday sales but not successful as the PS4. Microsoft needs to find another way to get better sales outside of the US if it wants to keep up with PS4(maybe that price drop?). Why do we keep track of sales of all video game consoles? Because Sony and Microsoft fanboys care, even the companies themselves do, also the media, potential investors, the government, retail companies, advertisement, and maybe your average person, etc.

 

Read through the history, I vaguely remember plenty of MS fanboys touting how the PS3 was in last place, 360 is the definite console for multiplatform games, etc etc. Ironic that the 360 ended up in last place, despite the one year head start that many fanboys neglected.

I don't think many PS fanboys really cared about sales, but the MS fanboys sure made it a point of emphasis every NPD. Actually, MS fanboys tried to make everything sound important. Funny how everything that was important last gen all of a sudden doesn't matter this gen.

Sales matter, if Xbone loses the two largest markets they dominated in (U.S. and UK), they'll have to come up with a way to be more competitive to get consoles in gamers hands. Kinectless SKU? $50 price drop? Game bundle?

In before, have you seen Titanfall? I think the majority of you guys who are clinging on that being the savior for Xbone might be disappointed. It's still releasing for the 360, which 80 million people have and PC. I wouldn't be surprised if sales are better on the 360 vs the Xbone. If they made it Xbone only, I'll be more convinced that it'll be a big boost towards HW sales.

I'm optimistically skeptical the game will do well. If gamers (not reviewers) praise it enough, I'll pick it up on PC. Games that are multi-player only aren't usually a huge success.

Which metrics do YOU prefer? You have said only fanboys care about sales and specs.

I promise you MS and Sony care very much about sales. Not to mention developers care about specs and sales. Just as devils advocate can you tell me something only the MS fanboys care about?

 

It does not change the fact that Microsoft fanboys care about this as much as Sony fanboys do. You gotta be delusional if you think only one side of the console war fanboyism care about total sales.
