I think the reason most people doubt Teddy is because he plays in the AAC. I agree that he shows everything you want with a #1 pick. Kid is a winner and a leader and would love him leading the Texans next yr.

Maybe Jaws is crazy...but plenty of people rated Schaub as a top 12 QB in the NFL.

    http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2013/07/2013-jaws-qb-countdown/

Matthew Stafford just signed a new contract last summer after putting up these numbers in 2012:

    20 TDs
    17 Ints
    79 QB rating
    6.8 YPA
    4-12 record

Potential can be great, but Stafford isnt anything special, as he showed this season, again. Yet, the Lions need to wait 3 seasons to cut him and still face 11 million in dead money at that point.

I dont think the Texans should have extended Schaub...but if they were going to, they played that contract perfectly, both in structure and in terms of money.

    Not because he's black.

He's got a thin frame, small hands and hasn't played a very challenging schedule.

Also has a tendency to overthrow passes.

Yea because there is no way in hell he will gain weight once he's in the NFL. Teddy actually didnt complete 100% of his passes??? Forget #1 pick this bum might go in the 6th rd if he's lucky

No way he lasts to the 6th round.

ESPN has him as the 9th best prospect overall

Now that the season is over, who are your top 5 QB prospects this draft in order? Exclude Mariota.

If he was 2 years younger and came out with Luck he might have been the 4th QB taken. Possibly 5th if Barkley had come out. I think that's the problem.

I'm not an expert on mechanics. I thought Rodgers release was **** at Cal but he changed it. So who knows. But I've read he's inconsistent and has problems with his release point. Those things don't worry me so much, but I'm not sure how difficult they can be to correct.

Top 12 is not the same tier as where Stafford was at the same time.

But the Lions aren't going to be interested in cutting him in the next year or two - because he's a young potential franchise QB that they have high hopes for. Even if he sucks, he has a long leash for that reason. That's why I'm saying guaranteed money is not as significant for him.

Schaub was on the backend of his career and coming of a major foot injury that many people felt might be career threatening (especially for someone who was a statue even before the injury).

Again, the Texans were bidding against themselves and most likely paid Schaub more and guaranteed more than he would have been able to get on the free market - that's what makes it a bad deal. Comparing his deal and guaranteed money to younger franchise QBs is not the right metric to use because they were going to get more for very good reasons.

Okay, and 4 years and 62 million for Schaub was not a bad deal...the bad deal was that they extended him when it wasnt necessary. 15 million a year isnt bad and Schaub would have surely received a contract in that range. Keep in mind, if the Texans didnt start self imploding, we could have very well gone to the AFC championship with the way we were playing for the first 12 games of the year...had that happened, Schaub would have received a bigger contract from other teams.

And Stafford has never been regarded as a top 10 kind of QB. And he never will be either.

I think texxx has made it pretty clear he knows little about Bridgewater based on his comments about wishing he could have seen Bridgewater play some good defenses besides UH. He didn't even know anything about the teams he faced yet was commenting on it.

He wasn't likely going to get $15MM from anywhere. At the time, his contract made him one of the highest paid players in the league, I believe (based on avg salary).

    From this link:

    http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/nfl/165803-top-salaries-2012-players-each-position/

Schaub's $15MM/yr made him the 5th highest paid QB, though I'm not sure the accuracy of those numbers. Salaries have certainly exploded since then, though.

After 2011, he certainly was. #3 in yards, #3 in TDs, #5 in QB Rating. Took his team to the playoffs. Led one of the best offenses in the NFL. He was an up-and-coming superstar.

please stop trying to act like youre the smartest guy in the room and outwit everyone. its why you spent so much effort arguing pointless technicalities like if bridgewater was a bad interviewee because he didnt thank his teammates before grading his own performance. your gripe with his tendency to overthrow passes falls under the deep ball.. well at least if you had been paying attention and not just regurgitating others complaints without any real grasp of what the complaints were really about..

are you trying to argue that he overthrows routine, short, and intermediate passes? lol just shows how you arent paying attention. we talked about him overthrowing passes on deep routes (which is his biggest weakness). you read this and interpreted it as him overthrowing on all passes and added it to your personal list of complaints..

Not at all. The difference is that I don't comment about things I'm not familiar with. If I didn't know what kind of competition or defenses he faced, I would either not comment or research it instead of acting like I knew and throwing out comments that turn out to be ridiculous.

You have an agenda - everyone can see it despite your silly protestations to the contrary. You run into this in every section of this board on a regular basis - you'd think a smart person would realize they weren't fooling anybody. You either think you're smarter than you are, or you're just a troll and don't care.

You are wasting your breath. This the same guy who asked last week:
If it isn't one thing, it will be another. You are being fillibustered.

Until he bombed in 2012...and then signed his contract.

The going rate for QBs is very high...15 million a year isnt very much for a QB.

We will see what Cutler will command...as he is in no way better than Schaub back in the beginning of 2012.

And Schaub is currently the 9th highest paid QB...but Cutler's contract will push Schaub to 10th. However, as far as guaranteed money, Schaub will be at 12th after Cutler's deal.
