You guys are nuts. Just a year ago everyone was saying Wade was a defensive genius and was afraid he was going to jump ship since he would be offered a head coaching job.

After 2011, yes... after 2012, no.

The defense has regressed since midway through last season, and has been awful throughout this entire season.

Hell, two years ago, everybody was giving Kubiak praise for keeping the team together and winning a playoff game with a 3rd string QB.

Things change that fast... and Wade doesn't really fit the O'Brien/Belicheck reputation of "changing the game-plan for each specific opponent." Wade is very much like Kubiak in terms of needing a lot of talent to execute his system... and will still attempt to run the same system with sub-par players (and resulting in subpar results).

Like I said from the beginning, Wade is fine to stay. It's going to be up to BOB.

I wouldn't mind Wade staying. We desperately need some talent at OLB and safety though, otherwise it doesn't matter who we bring in. And J-jo needs to have a resurgence.

I really dont mind having Wade remain as the DC...the issue really is about talent, and who made calls on draft picks and signings on the defensive side of the ball...There is clearly a lack of talent aside from JJ Watt. That being said, evaluations have been bad...was predicting big things for Mercilus and Reed, but what happened there? Cushing hurt again, and no one is able to step up...two busted defensive draft picks...Teams are doubling/tripling JJ, and LB still cant get free to hit the QB or make plays...Safety's cant tackle and get dumb penalties...corner's smh!

All that being said, Wade would love to stay in Houston. He is building a home here, and would hate to not be on the team. Anyways...totally up to OBrien if he still wants the Silver fox

Wouldn't mind if he stayed but not likely. We'll see who comes in next if he doesn't. Hopefully we don't get a Kubiak thing going on where it took him into his 6th year before hiring an experienced DC because he was too busy hiring his friends.

No, O'Brien should have the contacts or the insight to identify and hire quality staff. Ultimately that's part of his responsibility and what McNair paid for. Also, ageism notwithstanding, there might be comparable defensive coordinators much further away from retirement. Amazing how much longer he's been in the league than his dad.
