I don't think he had intentions on getting the chick pregnant.. His getting another chick pregnant does not make him less of a great/good father. Also what should be noted is that he is a high class athlete he got custody of both of his kids, which is not only rare for an athlete, but also as a male.
Ask the kid the grew in a home with two parents that hated each other... Ask the kid that grew up in a home with two parents that have nothing and live in poverty... Ask the kid that grew up in a home and had to witness his parents divorce... People forcing their limited set of values on other people is largely the cause for many of the dysfunctional families and homes there are in the world. Ask the adult who is in life long therapy trying to deal with the dysfunctional family he/she grew up in... If the child grows up in a home where he is well taken care of, both his/her parents love the child and the parents are friends, then that trumps a dysfunctional home where two parents live under the same roof every time.
You either live in a fairy tell world or you have one giant dose of reality waiting for you when you wake up.
You have to be a p*rn star to be able to pull out in time before the shot clock expires. You may think it's exploitation and a sin but what these guys are doing in the p*rn business is all talent my friend. Being able to c*m on command, I mean damn????
Would love to see a skit of NBA Cares where NBA players preach about having protected sex when banging groupies lol.
Opposite. I live in a world where family values stand, where routinely I see marriages with adult children in their 40's-50's with parents that are/were married the entirety of their lives to one spouse. Just because society is not teaching good family values doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's actually far more common than you think on people committed to each other with a strong biblical foundation. Things haven't fallen apart that much as to think it unrealistic when there is proof of it all around us.
Of course he didn't mean to, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have prevented it. We all do things we didn't mean to because we are in the moment, but better preparation and self control can avoid that. We're still responsible for those actions. All he had to do is use a condom. As someone who probably has women always throwing themselves at him, he should be packing. Dude just lost control, unless she tricked him, but it doesn't seem like it. Now, the kid is stuck paying for their mistake. Being wealthy will help, no doubt, but he'll start his life with a large void that'll never be filled.
All your comments imply the only alternative was for him to stay with his friend and force a relationship. That's not what I'm saying AT ALL. You're only looking at it post conception. What I am saying is, he shouldn't have let it get to that point in the first place. If you're protected, then any consequences will only affect the two consenting adults. If there is no protection though, then they are also potentially affecting a child. A good parent thinks ahead of time about the kind of life he is bringing a child into. It's like being poor and having kids you can't afford to have. A good parent would choose to wait or not have too many. The difference here is that money isn't the problem. Yes, Wade will provide financially in excess and both parents will likely be part of his life, but money won't buy the moments the kid will envy, when he sees his friends and their biological parents together.
So because you have kids in order to be called a "good" father you have to be tied down to the wife for the rest of your life? Oh, and you have to use condoms all the time too, otherwise you're a scumbag First of all, Dwade was a virile, wealthy and SINGLE man when he had a kid. Secondly, you don't even know how the kid was conceived, maybe they did use a condom and it broke, maybe they were drunk and forgot everything, labeling him a bad father because he had a child out wedlock when he can obviously afford it seems crazy to me. By your ridiculously high standards, all the poor people shouldn't have children because their kids will be jealous of all his friends having really nice swag for christmas. If Dwade is being such a bad dad by having his kid grow up not seeing his biological parents together, what do you say to all the families out there struggling to feed their families? Are they all bad parents cuz they're forcing their children to live in poverty? We don't live in a perfect world, and kids can't expect to always be born to two loving, wealthy and completely monogamous parents. The important thing is Wade is gonna fulfill his roles and responsibility as a parent by seeing that his kid is taken care of and he plays a role in his/her life, which it seems he's gonna do. You know he could've had the kid aborted, right? And he could've hidden it from Gabrielle Union and had the child on the down low, right? Or he could've paid the baby momma a couple million and told her to disappear, right? There's a million things he could've done if he was really such a scumbag father. Geez, you see the posters you act like everyone on CF is a saint.
Condoms do not prevent pregnancy, it limits it. There are many factors to this than to just assume he was unprotected. While it's a lot more likely that he was unprotected, you have to look from more than one perspective before passing judgement.
Condoms are pretty damn effective. For him to get her pregnant during a short break from Union, i think it's very likely he didn't use one, just like you said. Not going to focus on the 2% chance he did everything right and still got her pregnant. If that was the case, then I'm wrong, but it's very unlikely.
I never called him a scumbag, in fact, I implied i wouldn't got that far in my first post (second in this thread). I think he's a good person, good parent for the most part, but he made a big parenting mistake. Wade being single at the time has not nothing to do with the point I'm trying to make. I'm not hating on him for having casual sex as a single man. Although, it's not a very good move to make, while you're just on a break from your GF, but perhaps they agreed that was ok. So he gets excused because he was drunk? Really? C'mon now. Two wrongs don't make a right. As for the condom breaking, there is something called the morning after pill. This is D & D territory, so all I'm going to say is he had options and control over the situation, whether he was drunk, had a ripped condom, or didn't pull out in time, etc. Thinking ahead is all part of being a responsible adult. We're not perfect, but you've got to try harder in a situation like this. Everything points to him having unprotected sex with a groupie he happened to be cool with. Not a smooth move at all. Never said he was such a "bad dad". Just not a good one, or better said, a great one. Or one that needs to be better. That's all semantics, i guess. What am saying is, if you were to rate it with a points system, he's already lost points he can't get back. IMO, anyway. If those people in poverty had a choice in having kids, and they had more than they could handle because they didn't stop and think about it, then yeah, they're lacking in parenting skills. They made be good to them after the fact, but again, you're starting off on the wrong foot as a parent. How long have your parents been divorced/separated?
This thread is worse than a womans talkshow lol. Wade is marrying a crazy woman whose known to be a b****h and he got somone else pregnant . This is normal life no reason for people to analyze it. Wade gets married and his baby mothers gets $.
It's ok guys, just normal life! Cancer, murders, poor education, it's all ok. Just normal everyday ish. No reason to think about it.
Its just wreckless especially when you consider all the things he went to through the courts to get custody of his sons.
