This draft is a lot like that draft, man. Eerily similar. No standout player but a handful of exciting players. Mathews is the seemingly surefire guy this year (boring), that year it was Ferguson (boring, bust).
How would Ferguson classify as a bust? He went to the "Pro Bowl" in 09', 10', & 11'. He's started every game at LT for them since 06' (which if nothing else, says he can stay healthy, and away from the banned substances....lol)
Yeah, no thanks on Manziel, classic spectacular college QB that will fail in the NFL. Boy I think this whole QB class is overhyped, Bridgewater is the only one I like, and I'm not even in love with him as a pro.
Agreed, Ferguson is solid. The same as Mario Williams. But everyone here classifies Williams as a bust (disagree) so by general standards, Ferguson would have been a bust, especially since I felt like he was the best player available (I still wanted Williams though).
Yeah, everything will change after the combine. Clowney still has a good chance to blow everyone away again.
I have a feeling Clowney's combine is do or die time. Not that the "die" situation would cost him much, but if he goes into the combine and underperforms (meaning, he doesn't do spectacularly), the hype train for him will be derailed.
Yeah, Barr, QB#1, QB#2, QB#3 and Mathews could overtake him. Along with OT#2, Evans (if he can run fast) and maybe 1-2 more guys if he really blows it.
Jake Matthews is not going to overtake anyone for the Texans. If they didn't have a LT, maybe, but since he would play RT for us there is 0 chance he is on top of the Texans board if they draft #1 overall.
