I would say we are passed the points of "diminishing returns" or a "regression towards the mean" especially when you're dead last in categories like sacks, turnovers, and red zone % (with the team being one of the worst at forcing turnovers not just this year, but all time!)

You don't think any of that has to do with the players quitting like 5 weeks into the season? Just two years ago we were one of the best defenses in the NFL, and then we got rid of half of our decent players because we were so confident we could replace them!

Good Interview (not current but provides a perspective on Bill for those that do not follow him)

It wouldn't shock me if they're due to pay him 500K tomorrow and he's out interviewing for NFL jobs.

Smart move on PSU's part as they can go chase his replacement ASAP.

The two biggest things. Dead last this year in Red Zone TD%. Our opponents scored TD's 67% of the time when they got inside the 20. By comparison, it was 51% last year and 48% in 2011.

And not just "one of the worst" all time in forcing turnovers. We were THE worst. No team in NFL history has forced fewer turnovers than the 2013 Houston Texans.

We weren't last in sacks, but we were only one off. If you're gameplan is to blitz all the time and leave your corners in man on man coverage all the time, if you can't get to the QB then your defense isn't going to be good.

We went from Frank Bush who never blitzed to Wade who does nothing but blitz. It's like Goldilocks and the porridge. We've had the too hot and too cold. Maybe the next DC will be just right and we'll find somebody who's not afraid to blitz, but knows how to disguise it and will also mix up coverages so that the QB doesn't have such an easy time reading the defense.

But then wouldn't they loose out on that $6.4 mil buyout?

You could say that about the offense as well... and Kubiak didn't survive that.

Wade's defense has been below average dating back to last season, when we saw the likes of Chad Henne and Christian Ponder going up and down the field on them.

Wade has his way to run a defense. If it works, it works really well. If it doesn't, well, too bad because that's the only way he knows to run a defense. If a team (like the Patriots) knows how to pick it apart, you're pretty much screwed. If "lack of adjustments" applies to Kubiak, it certainly applies to Wade too.

One note to be made. O'Brien loves his TEs, specifically threats both in the run and pass game (Gronkowski and Brenemen are examples). If OB likes Bortles/Manziel more than Bridgewater, he could trade back with Cleveland and grab an extra 1st plus more. Take one of the remaining QBs and then go after Ebron/Amaro/Sefarian-Jenkins with the other 1st. Could make for a very dangerous offense given the right combination (although I just want us to take Bridgewater).

Nobody quits...all these guys are playing for future contracts, endorsements, etc... It's not like Kareem Jackson is going out there saying to himself, "I think Im going to give this receiver 5 extra yards of cushion". Nobody wants to look like an idiot on the field.

And even if that were the case, then blame the coaches for allowing the players to have such a 5th grade mentality about their livelihoods.

We also didnt get rid of half of our decent players. Barwin was almost a zero last season for us and we couldnt afford to keep him based on the offers he was getting. Quin is the only player that we "let go".

I like Ebron and Amaro more just have to put him in there with that group. I like a Bridgewater/Jeffcoat round 1/2 but a Manziel/Amaro/Jeffcoat with an extra early 2nd sounds pretty awesome as well

Do you really think Wade wants to work for the guy who beat him out for the job he was gunning for? It's a pride/ego issue. Look at the Ed Orgeron situation at USC this year.

Plus, Wade isn't exactly a young buck looking to make a name for himself, nor is he living paycheck to paycheck, so he probably doesn't need this job.

All this is moot, anyway. There's practically a 0% chance the next (non-Wade) HC will retain him. He's got that Kubiak odor (Eau de Battlefight) on him now, which won't dissipate for a while.

Well, he didn't really talk football but he sold me on his character. Great personality and seems strong willed and not an ass. I thought he was a bit of an ass the way he attacked Brady. Now I just think he is a bit of a hot head but a character guy.

As for his football many seem to vouch for his smarts so if that's true he has my vote now.
