Down goes Jim Schwartz. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>Jim Schwartz fired.</p>— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/statuses/417700776689954816">December 30, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I still think Houston is the best job available, but Detroit is the best candidate for a KC-like turnaround.
Wouldn't surprise me if Dallas fired Garrett... despite what they say now. Let the dust settle, and Jerry would jump on somebody marquee if they happened to make themselves available. Also wouldn't surprise me if Coughlin retired, despite what he is saying now.
I'd add the Dolphins to the up-in-the-air list as well. Lots of clouds there with the Martin situation plus the late season collapse and them vowing to "make changes".
There are not enough desired coaches to go around for theses jobs. The incestuous rotation will just spin them all around. I saw Dave Wannstedt still coaching yesterday. The Texans need to pull the trigger today, Bill Obrien's salary goes up with every announcement. Will McAvoy @WillMcAvoyACN 16m The stats: right now 16.667% of NFL coaches have been fired. For every election since 1964 at least 85% of the House has been reelected.
Yeah, that tripped me out. I had no idea he was still around, and he's a special teams coach now. He really botched that fake punt badly.
****. @jwyattsports: Munchak appoached meeting with players like he'll be back. Talked about offseason schedule, etc #Titans
Needed to happen. Not a bad coach, but didn't manage his players well enough. I think he could use to care about character in his players, which he clearly didn't with Haynesworth or Suh.
Player are pissed after Chud's firing: SI's Peter King reports that both D'Qwell Jackson and Joe Thomas were upset by the firing. Jackson told King that the firing was "crazy," saying: "On the bus back to Pittsburgh, [defensive teammate] Jabaal Sheard showed me a text from his agent that said Chud could be fired. I said, ‘No way. No way.’ After the Trent Richardson trade and our quarterback injuries, I thought for sure he’d get a pass. Not one year. Come on. One year? There’s no way. Chud was good for us, good for the team. He came in and did everything right, I thought." I am texting with numerous Browns players and their emotions range from bewildered to furious — Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) December 29, 2013 One Browns player: "We are so dysfunctional. These billionaires need to pick somebody and stay with them. These aren't girlfriends..." — Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) December 29, 2013 "... you can't dump them if they (fail to please you) one time." — Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) December 29, 2013 Another Browns player: "This organization is a joke." — Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) December 29, 2013 It's a mess: #Browns LB D'Qwell Jackson said he's mad that folks are speculating that Chud will be fired. "He's a great coach.'' Can't even fathom firing — Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) December 29, 2013
I didn't understand this one either. He did the best with the scrap heap of players (QBs) he inherited and won more games than Kubiak and bunch..... which says a lot.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 58m Another coach the Buccaneers are considering is former Texans HC Gary Kubiak, per league sources.
I love that the player's opinion of women boils down to "fail to please me on demand and you are to the street." Stay classy Cleveland.
