I don't understand how Obrien made a big deal about not leaving after one season because he thought it would be wrong to leave so quickly, but yet two seasons is ok?

You're assuming it was ever anything but coach-speak. Don't ever take what coaches say at face value when it comes to their jobs - because it rarely is anything but PR / media spin.

Maybe, but that's the kind of thing that turns into more than coach speak when you go against it the following season. Not sure how big of a deal it is to him, but it can't look well to say something like that to your players and then go back on it. That's one way to lose players.

I've heard that O'Brien feels somewhat betrayed and lied to by administration at Penn State.

    Bill O'Brien and Ryan Mallett.

    Interesting...

If Mallett were going to be anything special, NO WAY Belichik would let him go.

Definitely don't want Mallet unless he comes very very cheap.

I immediately thought the same thing. Haha.

Mallett would be extremely interesting. The guy had all the tools, including size and a HUGE arm, but had major character issues. Kind of Belicheck's MO to straighten those types out. I'd still probably want Teddy B, though.

I wonder if you could get Mallett for a 5th rounder? No idea what his value is.

How would we know how he has progressed? He didn't see the field and the Pats don't talk.
O brien would have the best information. The one thing we know, he is huge and can throw bullets.

If we could get Mallett from Bellichek for only a 5th rounder you know he is trash. My guess is since the Pats used a 3rd to draft him they'll want a 2nd.

Don't think so. I remember meeting Ric briefly back when Yao Ming had his first Rockets game at a (at that time) Clutchcity get together somewhere in Dallas. The dude was definitely white.
