I was in The Netherlands in October and they do not enforce the EU only law in Amsterdam. Trust me.

Outside of Amsterdam is a different story.

I'm so happy I'm seeing this within my lifetime

I have a dream.. that one day I can walk down the streets of Houston with more than a gram of weed and be legal

I think this is what America needs to begin another Golden Age

The naysayers will say it will reduce our productivity...

But what I think what we lack is creative juice to do something new. The right minds will get a hold of some ganja

A great step in the right direction. Eventually our backwards-ass state (when it comes to mar1juana) will jump on board, but we'll likely be one of the last with all of the bible thumpers around that think weed is the devil.

Texas isn't just religious nuts. It's religious nuts with lots of money and hands in big business. It's the military-industrial-conservative ideology capital.

I find it ironic and sad that Houston, Tx has the largest medical center in the world and yet no legalization of the Mary Jane? We throw everything in the kitchen sink when it comes to anything in this field and yet Mary Jane hasn't been discussed???

They're probably among the culprits.. if people stop getting sick, who is going to fund our oversized medical center?

They need us to be ill

Exactly, that's the thing I hate. We're just puppets to them. I'm sure a dispensary or two can fund our hospitals. Everyone smokes the J, right?

When Texas is considered a blue state and stops being a red state, then legislation would be realized. I full well expect Texas to be among the last remaining holdouts to approve such legislation.p

I really don't think it will take that long. Maybe ten years at the most. This legalization wave is getting bigger and bigger and more states are putting it in the ballot. Texas has enough progressive urban areas that will help lead to change quicker here. Look at Alaska. Votes red, but still has medical mj and will put it up for legalization next year IIRC.

alaska is irrelevant to politics, though.. texas would shift the whole political landscape if it were to give electoral votes to democrats

So what does it take to get it on the ballot here in Texas? Are there active efforts to make that a reality?

well let me rephrase that.. alaska votes red and is okay with weed because they don't take life too seriously and its alaska, the great wilderness, people are chill.

texas votes red and isnt okay with weed because big business lends itself to a social climate of status quo and efforts to maintain status quo.. so progression with conservatism moves like pure sludge. people are afraid as a whole of what could happen if they were to smoke some bud or 'god forbid my children get exposed'. and of course the media enforces these mental connections and of course peoples' religious communities also halt mental progress and foster tightwad mentalities.

texas just needs to let go of its insecurities, mon..
