wtf have the last 3 pages been about?

Teddy killed it today in terms of his draft stock. I want him on this team. I need him on this team.

To be fair to bigtexx Bridgewater is not the most charismatic speaker. His interviews are bland at times. He speaks the truth and the truth can sometimes be boring. He does not make bold predictions and may not understand that the order more appropriate is to thank the players first. But make no mistake he is grateful. He is too a fault humble and unselfish. He clings too his faith probably more than some on here would like. He is very intelligent too albeit he may not understand or care much for all the social nuances.

As for Bridgewater's game I was sure he would shine. That's what he does. he steps up for big games. And even then he outperformed my expectations. I thought after that performance anyone in their right mind would see this kid is special. Compare how he played in the biggest game this year to Mariota or Manziel or even Winston.

Famous Jameis played the same team with a better offensive line and a much better running game and didn't perform as well. Winston has bigger and better recievers and his running game opens up passing lanes and yet he only threw 1 TD and 2 ints and completed a lower percentage of passes. And yet when FSU destroyed Miami Winston jumped to the front of the Heisman race and got all the credit. When Teddy put up better numbers 3 passing TD's 1 rushing people on here had the audacity to say Miami is weak.

People say he is not worth a 1st overall pick and we picked the wrong year. I do not deny Winston is bigger and younger but Teddy has never had a running game to open up his passing game. It's the opposite for him. His passing destroyed Miami's defense and opened up lanes for the running game. Bridgewater is not as big as Winston but he is decievingly much stronger than he looks. Did you see him stiff arm that DLineman to the ground and skip over him. I have seen him stiff arm linebackers and linemen that way before. It's no fluke. And he can run even though he rarely does. Those running plays were to showcase his running game early on for the scouts in the stands. Bridgewater can run and he will in the NFL but only when absolutely needed, not because it's the only thing he does well.

He is not perfect. I watched him overthrow two times early on. That is something he has done in the past. He also underthrew Parker twice on the sideline that is something he rarely does. Underthrow his reciever that is. I was thinking maybe he was trying to compensate for what he thought was a slower injured Parker. he almost always overthrows when he is off but usually not as bad as he did in those first two miscues. And it's not like he can't complete a long pass. He has completed many but he seems to miss on longer passes more frequently than any other pass. It's one area he needs improvement but he has improved in so many areas since coming in to college. There is no reason he won't continue to improve.

That being said he threw 10 incompletions, 4 were those over and underthrows and 1 was a tip at the line (another thing he rarely does) and 4 were drops. There was another that was an overthrow down the middle that could have been his 4th TD. I don't know if that was some mistake on the reciever as he was shaking his head like he did something wrong but it was slightly overthrown. The overthrows are something he needs to work on but they won't be as problematic with recievers like ANdre and Deandre.

Overall not bad for a QB on a big game day. It's the way he plays. He plays a conservative pro style offense not some gimmicky system that allows for lots of no huddles throwing to open spots. Or playing in a program that allows QB's too shine like Ponder and Emanuel and Winston and then when they get to the NFL they aren't as efficient. Bridgewater throws the ball with a touch and places the ball in spots for his recievers can best catch it. Bridgewater may appear to do all of this deceptively easy but he puts in the work to get better. He prepares and puts his team in position to win every game. Yes they lost to UCF but that was not TB's fault. If he had 20 more seconds he would have brought Louisville back.

He is as good a QB prospect out there, worth the 1st overall pick. IMO there is a big drop off between Teddy Bridgewater and the second best pick. I hope the Texans don't **** it up tomorrow.

Bridgewater was impressive, but I still think Winston will be the better QB.

But you're probably not going to be in position to draft Winston, so what does it matter?

    Great performance by Bridgewater.

I think this game showed in a nutshell all the qualities/flaws that he has been described with:

    Positives:
    -Great pocket presence
    -Quick release
    -Very accurate on short passes
    -Calm demeanour
    -Good against the blitz
-Nice reads after getting sacked on first play of the game
-Very capable of running and scrambling (something Smart didn't ask him to do much during his time at Louisville. Was mostly used as a pocket passer).

    Negatives:
-Accuracy on the deep ball (overthrows or under throws)
-Light frame (I have to admit when he rushed for that TD and got thrown into the stands I was afraid our future Texan might get injured. Same thing on a play when he got tackled after throwing the ball and stayed down for a bit)
-Fails to acknowledge teammates before himself and doesn't prepare a speech for Craig Sager

(that last one is obviously a joke)

Overall great performance and I'm glad Rick was in the house to see it. Hopefully we won't **** it up and win tonight so he can be a Texan.

How about drafting Teddy this year and picking up his favorite weapon Devante Parker next year to replace Johnson?

Trying to bring this discussion away from the fanboys whose "expert analysis" was based upon playing a weak Miami defense... The Chronicle raised some concerns about Bridgewater in this morning's article...

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...t-did-he-impress-texans-nfl/?cmpid=sportshcat

Texans general manager Rick Smith was among the crowd Saturday night in Orlando for the Russell Athletic Bowl.

He saw the same things you did on television if you were watching.

Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was dominating, completing 35 of 45 passes for a career-high 446 yards and accounting for four touchdowns, three passing and one running, in a 36-9 victory over Miami.

Smith may or may not have heard what you did.

Afterward, Bridgewater told ESPN, “What a way to go out.”

As if there were any doubt, Bridgewater all but gave it away he is going to declare himself eligible for the NFL draft.

There are many who will assume that if the Texans have the No. 1 pick, which they will if they lose Sunday at Tennessee, will pick Bridgewater since they need a quarterback.

Smith wasn’t available for comment, but I’m guessing his response would be, “Calm down.”

The smart general managers watch these games for what they are, college players playing against other college players in a post-season game, and aren’t going to commit to any player at this point in the process.

When Bridgewater makes it official he is leaving Louisville with one year of eligibility remaining, the process will begin.

The Texans and other teams will interview Bridgewater, prepare a thorough dossier on every move he’s made since grade school, interview his family and coaches and then will want to see him up close and personal on Louisville’s pro day for scouts. They also would like to see him at the NFL Combine, but, like many highly rated quarterbacks before him, he may not choose to attend if he feels he has nothing to gain.

Bridgewater’s performance Saturday night no doubt gained him a lot of fans among fans. But there’s a reason his No. 1 ranking among college quarterbacks in mock drafts before last week was being challenged by others, such as University of Central Florida’s Blake Bortles.

A majority of All-American Conference coaches believed Bortles was a better college quarterback than Bridgewater this season. You will get a chance to judge for yourself when Bortles leads UCF against Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl.

Bridgewater is listed at 6-3 but is probably not that tall. He weighs under 200 pounds. Although AAC coaches like his arm strength, pocket presence, quick release, mobility and intelligence, they thought they could rattle him easier with new defensive looks than they could Bortles. Neither, by the way, completed a touchdown pass against the University of Houston defense coordinated by David Gibbs, a former NFL assistant.

It appeared as if Miami was on to that on Louisville’s first possession when a safety blitz resulted in a a safety.
But, other than that, Bridgwater had his way with the Hurricanes. You will over the next few days hear almost as much criticism of Miami coach Al Golden as you do praise of Bridgewater.

And there will be plenty of well-deserved praise of Bridgewater. But it doesn’t mean Smith and others in the NFL are certain yet he’s ready to be the next big thing among young quarterbacks in their league.

I could be wrong, but didn't Teddy outplay Winston in regards to Miami.

The chronicle writers are just that, writers. The mental intangibles outweigh the "size issues".

Four years from now Teddy Icewater will be the best QB in the NFL.

You can't completely discount his other games because of last night. Look at how poorly he performed against Houston this year. No touchdowns. Should have had a pick or two if not for some stone hands from the d-backs.

Keenum had 48 td's to 5 int's his senior year.

Check out Bridgewater against the Cougars.

Looks very pedestrian. Maybe only threw one or two passes that are going to take place in an NFL game. The other 27 of them were passes that he will never be asked to throw at the next level.

Lots of players have bad games at some point, and look what great stats did for Keenum in the NFL.

There are bad points that can be brought up to slight Bridgewater but he's passed my eye test and worth the Texans picking imo. If it doesn't pan out it doesn't but you need to take a shot at get a great QB.

Can you name an NFL QB that didn't ever have a bad game in college?

The Cougars pass D is great this year. I was at that game, Teddy was one of many QBs Houston made look bad this season.

I would have liked to have seen Teddy play against quality defenses. Miami surely doesn't qualify. Was UH the only good measuring stick on their schedule this year?

I would have liked to see how well Teddy would have played this season with teammates on the caliber of an SEC team. There would have been no stopping him.
