gotta hand it to McNair, he knew O'Brian would be in high demand and wanted to get to him before everyone else, used Lovie Smith to get the minority interview requirement out of the way early

Got to wonder if he is watching the game tonight and if it will have any effect on his decision.

Florio has a warped way of thinking but it makes sense this time of year

I've *never* heard of a situation where a coach and a team were (publicly) negotiating a contract and the coach *didn't* end up signing.

I think everybody harping about "smokescreen" and "leverage" are just being contrarian. I'll be really shocked if this deal isn't done by Sunday night.

Wha? The program was gutted financially and in terms of scholarships. They lost some of their best players. Plus, he's known for his work with Brady and the Pats. This would be a nearly universally praised hire.

    Solid, solid hire.

He will bring in a discipline not seen here previously.

Keep in mind that things that are true leak all the time. It's often just someone in the know (and there are plenty of people that are involved in scheduling, negotiating, writing up contracts, family, etc) wants to be an "inside source" and feels the need to share things to feel important.

Sorry, messed up my last post:

I am a little concerned that people who know O'Brien all seem to think he's a lock to stay at PSU.

Is he truly a bad head coach though? I feel like the weakness with the Jets have always been horrible skill position players. That's a GM job unless he also wants large amount of input on drafting.

Agreed. Rex has never had roster control and has constantly been saddled with poor QB play by his GM.

Just like I'm sure Mack Brown told all his recruits he wasn't going anywhere, either. Those guys lie to those kids faces all the time. If the kid asks them, they can't well say "I'm leaving".

I wholeheartedly agree; especially since you used my name twice. Seriously, first time I have been excited about a Texan's coaching decision (if it happens).

Almost seems like a foregone conclusion

    Rocket River
I did not think Lovie had a real chance to begin with . . ..
