His record at the Rox is pretty average.

But as a GM and coach at Minny, they thought he was a legend!
So much so they tried everything they could to keep him. LOL.

Wolves have never been in the playoffs without McHale ever. They never acquired a star player without McHale at the helm.

Kevin Mchale worked for an owner that hired David Kahn. That he could draft both KG and Love and go to the conference finals in one of the least liked NBA city is a testament to his amazing GM skills.

What happened to make him leave his hometown after the great job he did?

He felt like his amazing GM skills cannot be properly judged properly by historians in the future without a comparison to other, lesser mortal GMs. So he stepped aside and allowed the passage of time for draft picks like Rubio, Flynn, Derrick Williams, Wesley Johnson to come forth and truly cement his history as the greatest GM to ever grace the planet.

The stupidity of the owner, Glen Taylor. There is only so much McHale could do to help a ****ty owner with a team located in an undesirable market.

Morey got lucky when Kevin McHale fell into the Rockets' lap. It's like mana from heaven.

I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked it as a question. Just state my opinion:

I think McHale is very poor at in-game adjustments and rotations. I also think he doesn't get the best out of his players and maximise their skills to benefit the team. Furthermore, his line-up experiments with small ball, the twin towers and Beverley starting are a total misjudgement that have cost us dearly in team chemistry.

I don't think the Rox can seriously contend for a title with McHale as our Head Coach.

Every coach in the league would be more-than happy to coach this team. Everything needed to make a legit title run is here. The consensus is that McHale is an average coach with occasionally questionable judgement, thus making the coaching staff in general at least -somewhat- of a liability. Would a more proven coach help? Yes. Is it concerning for the team right now? No.

The way he got Howard to play, he is a good coach. You can tell he is a players coach. He is developing Parson and Lin nicely. Maybe it is beard complex, but I do see Mchale making strides with Harden.

Mchale may not have a deep grasp with in-game coaching, especially with his current system that incorporates Morey's game philosophy which doesn't lend itself for hard adjustments. But experience and along with his recently new contract will go a long way.

The consensus among people who need to have a villain in order for everything to be right in the world.

Coaching is the easiest thing to point too when no other scapegoats are readily available.

The consensus among a certain fan-base, so that there is a reason they can conjure up why the certain player isn't the number 1 option and face of the franchise.

A certain fanbase that arrived before any of the new players? Huh?

You realize that the Fire McFail hater crew has been hard at work since day one, right?

Rather than analyzing and discussing the topic it's easier to just slap a label in an attempt to discredit their argument.

McHale was an unpopular choice among everyone but a few of us. In retrospect is has worked out well. The Rockets have performed right on expectation, despite injuries, massive roster changes etc. McHale just seems to roll with whatever Morey tosses his way.
