I will always wish that Walt in the Cabin had been another couple episodes. Probably the same with Jesse being turned into Captive Cook (instead of Captain Cook). I hate David Chase for ending Sopranos the way he did. Hate.

Man im disappointed that Vince Gilligan did not intend for us to like Walter throughout everything he did.
I liked him but I was always hoping he would get his in the end... thats why the show was so great. You didn't have to root for the main protagonist in order to get pulled into it. I rooted mainly for Jesse and Walt Jr's cereal loving butt! lol But Vince definitely wanted people to fall out of love with Walt, thats why he kept making him worse and worse. People were just turning a blind eye to how evil he had become because they liked him... hell some pigs were even writing death threats to Anna Gunn (Skylar) because she was getting in the way of Walts empire.
Why Gilligan wanted us not to like his protagonist i dont know why. The beauty of the story is that people in some way could relate to walt, to the point where no matter what he did we were hooked to his motives. Even justified them. What would Gilligan achieve by making us hate Walt? Hate the show? Its almost as bad as giving dana so much screen time (thinking she would have a big effect on brody) and not doing anything with her story other then to waste screen time.
It could be argued that by letting Jane die, Walt thought he was saving Jessie's life. It was obvious both Jesse and Jane were becoming Heroin adicts and with Jesse receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars, it was a recipe for a future drug overdose for both of them. By letting her die, he probably saved his life....(not that Walt didn't have his own ulterior motives....)
