In theory, it makes sense. Kind of. The problem is: what does Atlanta have to offer? Supposedly, Millsap is off the table. Maybe Chicago is interested in taking back Kyle Korver and his four contract. I know we're certainly not. What else does Atlanta have to offer? Expirings? I have a hard time envisioning Atlanta being willing to give up the Brooklyn pick swap rights given how absurdly bad the Nets are this year.
I actually think a lot of teams would love to have asik and/or lin on their teams, but not with that poison pill on the back end for both. Morey miscalculated and now will have to pay the piper for offering said contracts. i understand he had to in order to get both players back when. But, as can be seen nowadays, few teams are willling to bet TWO years on both players that are essentially back-ups at this point in time. neither are consistent enough to warrant automatic starting spots IMHO. then again, i am just a fan after all. Plus, with the supposed bumper crop of 2014 draft and free agents is understandable.
Will take Bynum if cavs waive him, he will be perfect for a backup here and will play hard since we're a contender Or we can trade asik for him & some else, since Bynum isn't guarantee any money next year. Bynum is the prefect fit for a backup center for 15mins here, atl & nets will be after him also.
Bynum + Picks for Asik would be a pretty nice deal. Bynum isn't guaranteed money, and is an expiring. And the reduction in role and minutes combined with the more relaxed and fun environment of the Rockets while still being a legitimate contender might be exactly what Bynum needs to re-find his game. I think it's quite possible that what's really the problem isn't that Bynum doesn't want to play basketball, versus he doesn't want to play basketball for the Cavaliers...
A highly tradable cancer to the right team. And if he's playing back up center, not a bad risk/reward bet at all versus Asik not playing at all.
Asik, Dmo, and Brewer for Bynum, CJ Miles, and a draft pick Talk to Bynum and say hey is this place where you're willing to be in a backup role? He says yes, we keep him and have a very capable backup center. He says no, we cut him and get cap flexibility for next year while also getting a 3 and D wing in Miles and a draft pick.
Once again....Bynum is d-o-n-e done. He was done before he signed that Cavs contract. The reason this is coming out now is because the Cavs had questions about him from the get-go. Hence the partially guaranteed deal. You do understand he was guaranteed only $6 million for this season. That's the most guaranteed money he could muster after shopping the league. That should give you a clue as to how the league values Bynum. Bynum took the most guaranteed money because basketball has always been about the money for him. The Cavs flushed this out before the Jan. 10th guarantee date. Bynum had NO REASON to let them know that he didn't want to play anymore. If he could have pushed past January 10th it's another $6 million in his pocket. But the Cavs were wary and knew the risks and possibilities and uncovered the truth so they don't have to flush another $6 million down the drain. Once again, Bynum is D-O-N-E.
What pick(s) are you referring to? With a loaded draft upcoming, I highly doubt they would be willing to surrender their own first rounder and the pick that they're owed from Sacramento has so many protections on it that it's essentially worthless.
Is he really DONE? Or is he just playing the Cavs? Bill Simmons just posted this...

1 - Expect Bynum to miraculously regain his love for basketball once he gets away from this messy Cavs situation. No to Bynum. Too much of a wild card. Do we really won't to trade Asik, who won't play for us, for Bynum who won't play for the cavs? What happens if Harden's beard scratches him accidentally? Will he stop wanting to play for us then?
Houston would want assurances from Bynum that he's willing to play back up first before executing the trade. And if you've been following the NBA rumor mill, apparently the Cavs locker room is a nightmare right now, with loads of drama due to friction between Waiters, Irving and Thompson. Toss in that the Cavs aren't in the play off race and it's not shocking that the guy wants out. Not the same situation as Asik at all. Bynum already has a built in way out of his contract so he's exercising his power to force the issue.
Houston wants no part of Bynum. So why you keep up this clown. Dude is a freaking quitter and has no heart. Why would we want this cancer on our team.
Not as far as I can tell. Source was dodgy and unsubstantiated by other writers. As for Bynum, you'd consider getting him as his contract is 100% NOT guaranteed. In other words, you can trade Asik for Bynum + Picks and maybe even Dion Waiters, then if you don't want him at the end of the season you can trade him as a 100% expiring, or release him and clear his entire salary (Asik) off the cap. And if you can work a trade with a team he actually wants to play on, you could even get MORE assets/picks out of the deal. It's an amazingly flexible trade asset, and you might even get half a season of high level play at the back up Center position on top of it all.
Hope so too. It's wrong to let him rob 2 teams and let him walk to his teams of choice. Be a slap in the face to Sixers & Cavs if he really does start to play well because he didn't want to try on a non-contending team. Come on Stern, DON'T let it get done. Also, no to cancer on this team. A moping Asik is enough.
