Just over the last week, 3 teams have lost their starting centers for the season: Atlanta, Cleveland, and Brooklyn. We have the best backup center in the league...no way that doesnt help us.

This is a much better week to make a deal than last week was.

Does Bynum have a team option at the end of the year?

Is there any shot that we can get Atlanta to send us the 2014 1st rounder they will get from Brooklyn (#7 right now)? That would allow them to keep their current roster intact.

Not a team option, but it's not guaranteed.

Any team taking him in trade can fully waive him for $0 in July. Really, there's no risk beyond half a season.

On another note, I had a bizarre thought... how much would other teams hate us if the Rockets ended up with Dwight AND Bynum and they BOTH ended up happy and playing well?

I can imagine the reactions in Cleveland and Philly....

Bynum and Waiters for Asik would be ideal. Both teams swap their disgruntled players and theoretically all the players end up in better situations. Asik could start for a crappy team, Bynum goes to a young winning team with a great locker room and would only need 15 minutes a game. Waiters gets 6th man minutes and becomes the backup 2-3.

Wonder if Morey would give up DMo or the 2014 1st in this deal if Cavs demanded.

Lol Bynum can be Dwight's backup if he straightens up his behavior.

Unfortunately Lin would have to be added for the trade to work.

Get Varejao and find another team to take Bynum

Says who? 150/125% rule... depends on what the final package is going to be, but you really don't have to include Lin into the trade. Asik + Filler would get it done.

    Rockets: Varejao and Waiters
    Cavs: Smith, Asik, and Brewer

Works for both teams and we don't really use Brewer anyways.

Asik+spare parts for Bynum and Waiters is perfect as long as we get a good second round pick IMO.

If nobody trades for him by 7th, wish we would get him on the vet. min, but I know clippers and heat will be first option for him, maybe morey takes the risk and just tries to convince him with Howard harden reaching out to him

Getting Bynum as a back-up would be an excellent move and the best Asik trade possibility.
