NY is not trading Melo, and even if there were, it wouldn't be for that crap pile.

NY might get crap pile if teams think that Melo walks away in July. Only Dolan was dumb enough to give up half the team and the team's future for Melo when it was obvious as h*ll that Melo was not going to stay in Denver. Other GMs are not that dumb.

The longer Asik sits out with a sprained <strike>thigh</strike> ego, the lower his trade value becomes. Wish he would just get on the court and play so we can trade his ass at the deadline.

    So, reuniting D'Antoni with Amar'e?

Cl-cl-clogging NYK's middle. No shooters left to stretch D?

    Melo's agent = NYK's/MSG agent. Interesting dynamic.

IMO, even less likely ATL trades Millsap now. In a normal year, yeah it'd be rebuilding time. But they're still a top 4 team in the East this season. Even without Horford.

Asik for Nets unprotected pick sounds good for hawks and exactly what I would want.

I don't know how Melo has any trade value at all. He is the most overrated player in the league. He makes everyone around him MUCH worse. I cannot stand watching him play. He has zero entertainment value. I say let him walk.

    Why Blazers need Omer Asik

The Portland Trail Blazers are currently tied for the second-best record (24-7) in the Western Conference with San Antonio and while that is great news, they may start coming back to the pack due to their poor defense. The Blazers have lost two consecutive games right at the end of the fourth quarter and the biggest issue has been on the defensive side of the ball.

From Joe Freeman of The Oregonian: "The Blazers’ defense has been particularly hard to manage lately. The Pelicans became the ninth consecutive team to score 104 or more points against the Blazers. They became the second in a row and third in that nine-game stretch to shoot 50 percent or better."

Last night the Pelicans scored 68 points in the paint, which can't happen if the Blazers want to win. The team has meshed this season with the addition of Robin Lopez as the starting center, however management might look at another option with the view of having a long run in the 2014 playoffs. The Blazers should make the playoffs, however they seem to be destined for a first round ouster due to their poor defense.

So, who should they look at? Omer Asik. Yes he is currently trying to come back from a knee injury, however once he's healthy Portland should make a serious run at him. Asik doesn't provide much on offense, however the Bulls and Rockets had solid defenses with him roaming the paint blocking shots, altering shots and rebounding. With Asik in the post the Blazers coaches could then focus their attention to the perimeter players becoming better defenders.

GM Neil Olshey probably has a lot of trepidation with the idea of messing with the chemistry between Lopez and LaMarcus Aldridge, however he has to consider making a trade for a better post defender if the team doesn't improve as we get closer to the Feb. 20 trade deadline.

The Rockets would likely do a deal with Portland with Lopez going back to serve as Dwight Howard's backup.

The Blazers aren't giving up anyone that we want on need.. So, them getting Asik is not likely at all.

We need a back up center and Lopez would fit right in.

Trading Asik to the blazers for a lesser player would be a horrible deal, doesn't matter if Lopez fits in, he's a lesser and the blazer are in the west. Not only in the west but are dominating the west, why help them by trading them Asik, and especially for only 50 cents on the dollar?

If we trade Asik for a lesser player them it should be to a bottom east team.

Asik has been such a disgrace. I'll celebrate the day he is gone.

One note: With the pick swap, Atlanta has almost no reason to try to lose games.

They could still decide that they like a trade package for Millsap, but the trade will not be done for the reason of having a better draft pick.

I think Morey's play should be to call Ferry and tell him that either you trade me Millsap for Asik (plus assets) or I am dealing Asik and Lin to Brooklyn (for say, Paul Pierce's expiring contract and expiring body) and **** up your 2014 draft pick. The East is so bad that getting a couple of live bodies on the Nets may push them into the playoffs.

How will it be a bad deal when Omer isn't even playing. We just need a back up center. He doesn't need to be an all-star to come off the bench. Lopez has proven to be a capable center. I mean come on, think about it. We would be getting their starting center to back up our starting center.

To all the people still pining for Milsap, he would not be that much of an upgrade over Jones. We're talking about 3-4 point upgrade. Not worth the effort if you ask me.
If you recall, we really didn't need Howard with Asik in the fold. But you know how people are with shiny new toys.
