If Atlanta wants to compete Asik makes sense. If Rox want to seal a deal with Asik to a non-tanking team then Omer has to get on the court for a team to compete with OA.

    Conundrum, huh?!!

Surprised it's not thread discussing asik injury, seems like it could be serious & we could be stuck with him if he's not healthy by feb.

Let's be serious: Atlanta has nothing to offer us unless Millsap is on the table.

I'd say Asik + jones + 2nd rd pick for millsap + 1st rd pick. That gives Atlanta quality replacements for at the 5 and 4. When horford comes back they can move jones to the bench or flip him for another pick later.

We roll with millsap compete and see how far we get. Then have the option to trade millsap + a couple of 1st for love if he becomes available.

They have the Nets pick swap and Nogueira. That Nets pick would be a huge haul.

Agree but it will take a lot more than Asik and some contract cleanups to get that pick....but it is nice to dream even for a moment.

Marc Stein still pushing Asik/Lin for Gasol(with a third team needed).

Marc Stein's "bold" prediction for 2014:

Keep your eye on the LA Lakers. So far they've resisted but I think as we get closer to the trade deadline, they'll give real thought at making a run at both Lin and Asik. It's a great one year play. It doesn't mess up 2015(when they want to go after Love). Need a third team. If they bring in Lin and Asik for one seasno, you have a basis of a team.

Again Marc Stein throwing stuff at the wall hoping something sticks. Why on earth would the rockets want the carcass that is pau gasol? Last year told us that gasol and Howard on the block would not work, and the rockets are in no position to trade Lin with the injuries mounting up.

Now Asik for Gasol makes sense only if Gasol is prepared to come off the bench and be the primary weapon for our second unit. But i doubt he is down for that.

Is Horford out for the entire year? If not, then I think perhaps Ferry will be open to trading him?

I wouldn't mind Morey going after an injured Horford, as long as he is healthy in time for the playoffs.

Yeah I saw that on NBA coast to coast.

Since Minnesota is apparently higher on Rubio being the player of their franchise over Love (lol) , perhaps they may be interested in Gasol? Gasol/Rubio would have good chemistry together.

3 team trade - Rockets get Love, Minnesota gets Gasol, Lakers get Lin/Asik.

    wishful thinking, I know.

A four man who can hit shots, play center and an expiring that will allow the Rockets to chase the top dawg this summer and resign Parsons.

Seems like the trade market for Asik keeps potentially increasing with starting centers like Lopez and Horford going down.

Asik will have much more value come Feb 20th despite what the media keeps saying.

I agree it's a valuable pick, but it's only a #7 overall pick right now. I think that's about has high as it gets. The Nets are horrible, but the East is horrible and they could easily make the playoffs when Jason Kidd gets fired. The 2015 pick swap might be more attainable and possibly more valuable.

    Anyhow...enough distracting from the news.

In my opinion, it is more likely that the Lakers and Grizzlies attempt to engage the Knicks in a 3-way deal with Pau going to Memphis, Zach, Nash, Blake, Hill going to the Knicks, and Melo/Amare headed to the Lakers. I think Memphis wants Pau, they want to re-sign him to a Duncan contract, around $30 million for 3 years and the Lakers want Melo. Knicks get to clear Amare off their cap. They would have Chandler in the middle, Zach at the 4, Bargnani off the bench, Nash likely retires, Blake at the 1, Shump at the 2, Hardaway Jr. at the 3. Then next year they've got ZR, Bargnani, Chandler all falling off the books.

Knicks won't do it for obvious reasons. But I think it's gonna get hairy at the deadline with Melo telling the Knicks to trade him or he's walking.
