There is no embellishing. He didn't make those statements for a life story about his younger days. There was a point behind that statement, and only a fool like you would try to deny it. His point: Black people were perfectly happy before the civil rights/welfare era.

No... this was never a case of "free speech." The fact that the right-wing attempted to cover this case of a private entity choosing to suspend an employee for hateful comments simply soils the concept of free speech.
