I'm pretty sure he makes new videos all the time. He plays games with some other dude, may not be under angry video game moniker however.

Nah, he doesn't really make the "angry" videos anymore. The newer ones are just him and a friend playing NES games and doing silly stuff. He's been working on a movie.

Seriously? I may have died 3 times that entire game. Sure it was difficult navigating aboug but as long as you took your time and played smart you didn't die much.

Is it just me, or is that opening intro music from the original TMNT game totally badass?

Same here. Pretty sure I made it past the water level, but not far. That was a Christmas gift for me back in '89. I wasted a Christmas getting frustrated at that crap.

And to show you how Nintendo Power was such BS back in the day, this was their "Game of the Year". They weren't going to give a bad review to a potentially huge money maker like TMNT, especially at a time when it was difficult to find other game reviews anywhere else.

He does, but he supplements the AVGN videos with other content so that there's not so long a gap between episodes. The "James & Mike Play . . ." videos hardly take anything to produce while the AVGN episodes are more scripted and labor intensive. But yeah, the frequency of actual AVGN episodes has gone down since he started working on the movie last year.

Someone said megaman 2 was hard? I could beat that in an hour or so.

I only beat super Mario once or twice maybe. I couldn't figure out how to get through bowser.

Super Mario 2 was pretty easy. Mario 3 was a bit more challenging, but eventually beat it.

I only beat double dragon once. Greatest feeling ever. Just didn't think it was fair for a guy to have a gun while I had to use my kicks and punches.

There was a game called infiltrator that was damn near impossible. You had to walk around buildings looking for ****. Or the other part of the game was flying a helicopter which was damn near impossible to do.

I only beat contra for snes with game genie codes. Same with zombies.

You guys are p*****s. Contra difficult? Please... I can get through that in one life with the damn regular gun -- no power ups.

Mega Man 2? Super Mario 3? Castlevania: SOTN? Those are all super easy games.

I will admit that Ninja Gaiden Act 6-2 is very hard. The rest of the game is fair. Although beating Jaquio without the Fire Wheel or Slash is pretty tough because the timer will run out due to the length of the battle.

TMNT is easy peasy except for the final corridor leading to Shredder.

Mike Tyson and Sandman from Punch Out!! are challenging. The rest are cake.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts and the original Castlevania are pretty tough.

If you want a really hard game (that doesn't suck) that is difficult throughout, try Battletoads. If you can beat that legitimately without any sort of cheat, you will have my utmost respect as an old skool gamer.

Jungle Book on the Sega was pretty hard, but then again I was only 8 at the time.

Another vote for TMNT. I always seemed to die at the airport level. My biggest accomplishment was definitely beating Final Fantasy on NES with 4 white mages. Of course, it helped that you could save your progress, but there were parts that took literally hours to get through before you got to the boss, and you couldn't save at any point. If you died at the boss, or on your way out, you had to start completely over. I will say, there was a lot of luck involved.

Just for the hell of it....I'm pretty good at Galaga at the arcade. At one place, I saw the high score was something like 999,680. I thought, I'm good enough to beat that. So after playing for 2-3 hours straight, I finally passed it!!! Too bad I was too stupid to realize that after 999,999 it reset back to 0!

I didn't find the all white mage party to be too difficult. Once you get the mage staff from Astos' castle (casts FIR2 when used as an item) you can take out most things relatively easily. Then later on the Thor's Hammer (LIT2) and the Black Shirt (ICE2) items are a big help. Having all those healing spells makes it really difficult for enemies to take you out, and the HARM spells are golden against undead enemies.

I found I had a lot more trouble completing the game with a party of 4 thieves. No white magic is a real killer, and even after class change their damage output is a lot worse than the all fighter, all black belt and all black mage party.

Playing a party of 4 black mages is a blast, by the way. Funnest party ever. :)

Damn...someone that is/was as obsessed with this game at one point as me!

All very true and valid points, but their defense is so low, especially in the beginning (ex. fighting 9 pirates), that it's hard to heal fast enough to keep up with the damage you take. Not to mention getting in a few turns to do some damage. I never really used the thieves, I may have to open Nesticle when I have time and give them a run. I've definitely beaten it with 4 fighters, black mages, black belts and red mages. Favorite party....fighter, black belt, white mage, black mage. It just got too easy though!

Yeah, I admit that the early game is pretty brutal with the white mages. After Astos, it's a cinch, but it is indeed painful until then. I like to level up a bit in the Temple of Fiends, and then go to those 2 spaces on the peninsula northeast of Pravoka where Zombulls and Trolls appear, and then hope for a solo Zombull, and slam it with HARM spells. I found that was the best way to gain enough levels in the early game to make it past Astos.
