'rockets fans should know because some of the past deals that were almost done that didn’t go through & I’m not going to do a deal that doesn’t help the team.' LOVE this line. He's basically telling us 'guys, don't be fooled, I was never going to do a ****ty trade. I had a trade in line and it was a good one, but the owner didn't want Asik's contract'
other teams will probably up their offers for asik before feb. i don't buy this for a second. he's gone by the trade deadline.
So, the owner(s) said, "No." To the respective GMs. What might the owner say when Mr Tellum tells'm? To me, at this time, that is the question.
I think people are overstating the impact of the balloon payment. Even the stories that frame the contract in a negative light agree that Asik is a $10m a year value. So you get a $10m value for only $5m this year. Anyone who balked at trading for Asik now is missing out on the real cost savings of his contract. Had they traded for him now, those cost savings could have balanced out the overpaying next year. The longer they wait, the less beneficial his contract becomes. If the Rockets end up keeping him for the life of the contract, they still only paid him $8m a year. Unless there's an injury to Howard they won't be able to maximize his potential the way other teams could, but they would still be paying under market price.
Only if he recovers to full physical health ,and plays hard every time he gets the opportunity to get on the court.

Nice game. Our starters took control early and at different points all stepped up and had some amazing minutes(?) yesterday. It was a good Christmas gift. I don't remember the last time any Rockets PG, let alone Jeremy Lin, was able to do that to Tony Parker. It was great. Tony Parker is one of those guys you can't stop. You just hope to make things hard. Jeremy did that. He took the biggest dynamic of their offense out. Coaches had a good game plan. A lot of times they'll use Duncan as a decoy to generate a lot of their offense but we didn't let that happen. Ginobili was maybe the guy who hurt us the most but we were able to contain him a bit down the stretch as well. Chandler Parsons' play. He has amazing touch. When he gets into rhythm, because he's so tall, defenders have a tough time bothering his shot. Memphis game tonight, worried? It definitely worries us. ... These are the games that we've had trouble maintaining focus through. It's a challenge. Starters went long yesterday (to secure the victory). It may impact us tonight. The Grizzlies without Gasol and other guys in and out, at home, we have to beat to meet our goals. Harden's ankle and playing tonight? We won't know until he comes in and see what the swelling looks like. When he first had that ankle go out, I thought that'd be at least a week. He turned that thing really good. He taped it up and played the next game but that caught up to him and probably shouldn't have played that first game coming back. He got it back to where it's feeling good and hopefully it's feeling good for tonight and my guess is it will because I didn't see him tweak it again yesterday. Rockets a bad match-up for the Spurs? It does remind me the last time we had a team this good, when we faced Portland and Portland was a team that was definitely better than us on paper but we matched up well against and beat them in the first round. I do think we are a tough match-up for them. We got a way to neutralize a lot of their weapons. They way they defend, they're a team that tries to make things hard but isn't aggressive defensively because they want to avoid fouling. That somewhat plays into a lot of our guys and their style and how aggressive they are going at defenders. It's an interesting match-up. Beating them twice in SA, that's not something you can expect to do in a season. They'll be out for us here in Houston. Latest on Beverley? When they got in there, it was better than expected, in terms of how much the damage was. We're hoping it's closer to the early date. You never know, healing is different. Patrick is a little like Wolverine. He's a tough kid from Chicago. We'll see. I don't want to rush him back. It's more important we get him really ready for the stretch run and that's when he'll come back. Time to have a Christmas yesterday? I did. My parents are here and was able to...not as mobile so I stayed in Houston with my mom. It was good. Hopefully we get a victory tonight as well. Did you behave yourself while watching the game? That's really funny. My kids got me these stress sort of doll things. I was pounding on that a little bit at various points. ... Good to see the guys pull together and finish it out. Hopefully it was a good Christmas for every Rockets fan. Terrence Jones and what's been able to bring. He's extraordinary talented. People naturally, when seeing a performance like yesterday, ask why he wasn't playing earlier. If you catch some other games, you'll see why. It's tough for a coach, you know you gotta play him because he's talented and can do things like yesterday but sometimes he'll have games where you know, he's a young player. He'll have games where he's not giving what he gave you yesterday. It's something we'll have to ride through. By the end of the year, because coach is sticking with him, we're gonna see a player who is hitting his stride by the playoffs we hope. Sleeved jerseys yesterday? Dwight Howard liked those jerseys. Those jerseys would not look good on... Oliver Miller? Yeah and some guys from the past. I was a fan. I really liked them. My wife hated them. It was smart for the league. Nobody was just okay with them. I thought they were pretty cool. ... I don't focus on jerseys. ... We'll wear them whenever we can get a win out of them. Restricted for shooters? All the games yesterday, the players shot better than they have for the year. I don't think the sleeves caused any trouble. Grind of a schedule. A tough schedule and we want to stay on pace of where we want to be. We have to keep winning 2 of 3. We're not quite there right now. I will mention, I think there are some tickets available if you go to Rockets.com. Tad Brown just texted me. Go to Rockets.com. We're pretty much sold out but a few available.
It may be, but I think he is mostly referring to concentration. If TJ gets himself in right position, good things tend to happen.
