I loved this example! There's nothing like hard numbers. It is very difficult to argue with facts. I went to see Casspi's stats from all the games so far. His worst performance was the Indiana game 1-10 (1-7 from 3pt). He has had three games with 1-5 (in all of them 3-4 3pt attemps of which 1 made). All the rest is better shooting. In the other three games in which he made over 10 shots (6-12, 7-13 and 6-13) including 2-3 3-pointers. that is very good shooting. Casspi's shooting stats are down only because that Indiana game. Without it his FG% is 44.8 and 3PT% 37.5. I don't think that anybody needs to be unhappy with those numbers. Now go back to the Ilyasova example. Flip Asik with him and you don't have a reserve center and cannot afford one. Moreover, it would be increasingly difficult to sign Parsons new contract. Take a deep breath and start to think what kind of degrees of freedom a contract like Casspi gives to Morey. When he gets from him production that he would get from an $8 mil/yr contract, he must be very happy about it.
Complaining about a guy on vet's minimum who is playing better after two disappointing seasons? Uh...what?
Meh,was Never a fan of this signing and to the Guy comparing Casspi to Ersan, the reason why Ersan Sucks this season is because he doesn't have Eliis and Jennings this season who were giving him Open Looks,Ersan is a much much better Shooter than Casspi (44% from there last Season) and if he would Play for the rockets he would help greatly with his spacing ability and he does Not make stupid things like Casspi
There's a chance to get him since the Bucks are not playing well. I would try to keep Casspi and show Garcia the door, as much as I liked him, he costs us leads sometimes.
based on the assumption that ersan will play better as a rocket, you'll commit to an 8 million contract a year, probably lose asik( arguably top 10 center and our biggest trade asset) and will lose cap relief that you can later use to sign parsons and another asset. all of this when you have a player that right now contribute more than him in less minutes and a much better shooting %, that is earning about 10% of his contract and gives the team a much needed cap relief, and is only 25 and probably before his prime.
OOHH HELL NO. I thought he was supposed to be a three point shooter? And that contract is god awful, NEVERMIND. Cas and Garcia r still playing bad though. Missing wide open 3's kills me.
I am talking about Garcia and Brewer though(Both make minimum wage but still don't perform).... You can still keep Casspi. Don't mind him. One can play backup SF and the other PF. I think paying quality players is not a sin. If Morey wants to keep getting them cheap players, scout in Europe, in the Dleauge and among undrafted players.
no argue here. if you're talking about a Ryan Anderson ripe of an upgrade. I don't see ersan as one. Anderson with the open looks that he will get here, and the license to shoot 3's+ he is a great fit as a stretch 4 next 2 howerd, and less of a gumble and risk than ilysova. Anderson can start at the 4 with tj backing him up, while casspi will be backing parsons at the 3.
You forgot completely that Casspi in Cleveland at his worst was 4 points or 7 points. 39% FG 32.9% from 3. Ersan's worst is 8.2? He is paid more because he had 4 yours of better performace while Casspi has only been better his rookie season. Casspi was also drafted significantly higher (Ersan in 2nd round)....although he is cheaper now.
You are fantasizing if you think we get Ryan Anderson (20 and 6) for Asik this year (4 points and 6.6 boards) straight up.
I don't have a problem with a 2nd rounder earning this kind of money. That meant he exceeded expectations like Landry, Parsons or Asik himself.
he was talking about adding ilysova as an upgrade and a quality player. if you're going to upgrade and take a contract this big, while losing asik in the prosses, I'd rather take Anderson.
Casspi plays some solid D. Not necessarily because he's a great defender, but he hustles on defense and makes it hard on the offensive player. He's also not afraid to body them up on D. I think he's a decent player overall. Certainly worth his contract.
Casspi has been doing what was expected of him coming in, his minutes at the 4 have been great. Garcia has been the biggest disappointment, how many times have we seen Garcia commit a shooting foul on a 3? He hasn't been playing like a veteran at all, all I see is a hot-headed mistake-prone one-trick-pony.
Casspi and Garcia are not enough for a Championship, right now that is just the truth. We might get away with keeping Cas but if Garcia stays in this slump we won't get past second round, the West is too tough. Morey has some shoring up to do. People have to understand that the position that we are in right now is not set in stone, we were in 5th place at the beginning of the season last year for awhile and then we dropped to 8th all it takes is for Phoenix and Dallas to get hot and we will be facing OKC or Porland in the first round. I think we can beat Portland but I don't want that fight in the first round. Who you have around your main guys is very important no matter how much money they make Champ contender role players fit their teams and hit clutch shots. Who is to say that Omer will even give it his all when he gets back. For all we know he could be traded for another big and we could be stuck with Casspi and Garcia, they need to produce a little more than they have been.
