Again, Garcia's personality seems to fit. And he's the vet of the team at a whole 32. Damn we're young. It's also why we shouldn't expect to win 60 games this year.

This thread is again a combination of lack of BB understanding and probably some sort of Casspi hatred. If we start from the basics, the second unit has become undermanned in lack of a backup center and, probably, a good PG. When Dwight sits, the tallest Rocket on the floor is 6'9'' (Casspi or Jones). Jones has a little more muscle, but Casspi is too light. As long as Asik and Smith are unavailable, the second unit is in big trouble in both ends.

Casspi doesn't pass. That's outright ridiculous. In some games he is taking just 2-3 shots because he doesn't feel that he is open enough. I don't have to invent anything: Casspi makes 8.5 PTG, 3.9 RBG, 1.3 ASG, and almost 1 STG in 21.5 min. What exactly do you expect from a min deal player??? JLin makes 14.6 PTG in almost 30 min. The three other Rockets making more than Lin are Harden, Dwight and Parsons and they play 35 min or more.

So that is what he produces. There's no way in hell to claim something else. Casspi has less turnovers than Harden, Dwight, Parsons, Lin and Brooks. The problem with shooters is always ups and downs. That happens to Steph Curry and it happens to Kyrie Irving. Irving just had a zero point game two weeks ago. He shot 0-9 (0-3 3pt) and he is extremely talented shooter. So calm down. Casspi shoots great for his job in the lineup.

Why does this topic pop up consistently?

+/- stats can be somewhat random with small sample size either minutes played per game or partial season stats. Bench players usually don't see most of the usual ebb and flow of each game. Also someone like Casspi who has been the first or 2nd player off the bench will get the benefits of playing with most of the starters probably 1/3 to 1/2 of his total minutes.

Asik for example had a really high +/- his rookie year when he played 12.1 minutes per game in 82 games. Noah was hurt and only played 48 games, but Asik never started, however he did play 43% of his total minutes with DRose in his MVP year. They were (+21.1) per 100 possessions together. His net +/- was (+8) that year.

The next year Asik played 14.7 minutes per game in 66 games but only played 21% of his total minutes with the injured DRose. They were only (+2.2) together and his net +/- was (+0.1).

Compared to his 1st and 2nd year Asik played 989 minutes to 971. His points were 229 to 205. His assists were 32 both years. His rebounds were 306 to 350. Basically Asik had almost the same stats his first 2 years but the difference between his net +/- was (-7.9). This shows how injuries, floor combos, and random luck play a big part in all +/- stats.

My american bodies, i really dont understand why someone doesn't like Casspi.
The guy actually contribute to the team, he is not Le-bron or Harden only a cheap player (you call it i think vet-min) and still has better statistics then any 8-12 player on the bench.

    Look at his stats (yahoo):

PTS- 8.5 ppg- 7th in the team
REB- 3.9 RPG- 6th in the team
    AST- 1.6 APG- 7th
    3PT%- 43% - 4th
    FT%- 73%- 5th
    STL- 0.9- 5th

    Am i wrong or what?

Both Casspi and Garcia make me uneasy when they are in the game. But I can live with Casspi when he is playing smart.

On the other hand, Garcia has been sucking on both ends of the court this year, and his basketball IQ seems to be a little down as well. He has a player option next year, and also has a "no trade" clause in his contract, so I guess we are stuck with his for atleast 1 more year after this one. Hopefully he can get his act together because his play along with the rest of the bench will cost us big games in the future.

PS: He played soo trash today because Dwight brought everyone expensive gifts, and just game Garcia some "nice shoes". LOL

Garcia's shot is off and he cannot create.

His defense against players his size is relatively ok but he is too slow, not athletic and can't go against faster and bigger players.

Don't make this a more complicated issue than it really is. When Asik was playing one of the two, Asik or Howard, where playing with the second lineup. In the later games mainly Asik. When the big man was in the paint, Casspi and Garcia were having a good time either by shooting freely or going for a fast break.

It is funny how short the memory is. The the second unit came out to fix a deficit that the starters often produced. When Asik and Smith are back in the lineup, the game will look different. You have to understand that the injuries have hurt the second unit the most, because they have to manage with what is left.

Casspi and Garcia are the clear weak points in the roster and we need to upgrade those positions if we are serious about a title run.

so don't guess, go and check facts.

just to put things in perspective, hers a comparison of casspi ( a 1millioin dollar vet minimum player) the player you want to get rid off, and Ersan Ilyasova, a player that makes $7,900,000 and some of the posters on this forum wnted to trade asik for.

    Omri Casspi

just compare the stats and contract, and tell me how useless casspi is.
I marked the stats the ilyasova is worse than casspi.

I wonder what you would have written if we managed to get Ersan
with his contract and stats and commit to it until 2016 -2017.

I agree with this. When the second unit is in there is no center in the game for houston and the defense goes to crap. Smith and Asik need to get better very quickly.

Yeah, ilyasova has really struggled this season. Not the same player he was last season with his injuries which is why he's been yanked and inactive a lot. Read a quote from their coach saying that he was "a shell of his former self this season".

I like casspi though, I don't mind him putting the ball on the floor couple times a game to keep defenses honest. I agree about Garcia though, we need a petition to bring back 2013 playoffs Garcia back. He's the 3&D guy we all know and love so much.

Garcia had exactly one good series (6 games) of good play against OKC mainly without Westbrook and a weaker Reggie Jackson.

Garcia has been the weakest link aside from Brewer and the Lithuanian who did not play much.

You are not wrong but I think Delfino played better, had more impact.
He is there with Morris or 2Pat though....

Correct myself. Casspi has been slightly better than Morris or at the same level.

    Garcia is below that

He did average 16 or 17 and 6-7 boards in Preseason.

He has been worse but that was expected.

not true at all. You just made a completely false statement and expected readers to accept it as fact. Haven't you heard morey talk about how he looks at so much more than height in players? His analytics cover center of gravity and a bunch of other crazy stuff. Don't just make a false claim like that.
