Everyone is hating the bench so much but it would not get any better with Bev on. This game proves with a fully healthy team why Lin is so valuable on the second unit. We NEED a scorer like him on the second unit. (Harden, Parson, Howard are never coming off the bench so shut it with any argument involving anyone going to the bench.) We just dont lose as much as a starting unit with Bev. It is not as good but I think the ends justify the means with a stronger second unit.

This was definitely much better tonight. There were multiple times the big came running over to help and some ended in blocked shots. There was one play where TJones ran up almost from the baseline to help hedge on Parker, forcing him to backtrack. They played like a totally different team on defense in this game.

you can understand why lin is awesome at the bench too. he shot 10 shots as a starter tonight. he can get the same 10 shots sleep walking as a sixth man and more points from freebies as HnH have accumulated the fouls on the opposition. I get both sides of the argument.

tonight our bench had 13 compared to spurs 55.:(

and because the stern minions control the flow, our 3 foul getters only went to the line 14 times.

Once Bev is back, Lin will be reduced to the 6th man off the bench. It's funny how a team would bench it's best play maker in hopes of him making plays for the bench players and not the starters?

Bev coming off the bench makes more sense since he can give that defensive edge and spark on the defensive end and hopefully influence the other rockets players to play better D [ie. starters who may still be on the court but lazy or too tired to play D]

I have trouble figuring whether Lin should help the bench or be a starter.

I'm glad I taught you a new term. Why didn't you reply when I asked you to explain how I used straw men? Hmm? Or to my post about us winning in SA earlier with Beverley starting and no Lin? Hmm? Happy Holidays!

Huge win. I ended up watching the second half though I was afraid to. I keep thinking that the Spurs would "go Mavs" and have a 15-0 run. It started a few times but never happened. Rockets just match up well with the Spurs and that is a good thing. We don't match up with the Mavs and that is bad thing. However, Harden makes a big difference.

The second unit really struggled. This game may have reinforced McHale's belief that Lin should come off the bench.

NO TEAM WOULD PUT THEIR BEST PLAYMAKER TO THE BENCH.
