Yea because we have too many sensitive asses here where i basically cannot say my opinion without someone pulling the racist card and crying to a mod.
Slavery, claimed terrorist... You pick. Which one do you wish wouldn't get picked on. The person who is trying to get by, or the person waving his sex flag in your face when majority of the world has religious input.
What about places where being a homosexual can result in you being executed? That's why I said it depends. And if we're talking about being "picked on", then I don't see why I should feel more sympathy for one versus the other. I had a good friend who was gay and he told me that he was picked on through out grade school for it (all the bullies assumed he was gay from his mannerisms which he couldn't help), even though he never outwardly express his sexuality. He was getting picked on for something about himself which he couldn't control. So how's that any different?
Absolutely you have a point. There are too many scenarios in the world so we will just limit it to America. My perspective is that i had friends in hs who would blatantly make fun of brown kids about terrorism (killing, gruesome) Yet fully supported gays. Blaming someone of killing or supporting it is a big deal, especially when the person is innocent. The gay incident that had occured also in hs (with the same kids who used to make fun of brown people) We were in line, and me my buddy and Racist crew saw a gay kid carrying a purse. My bud started pointing it out and giggling, mr. Racism became the sympathizer and started telling him to not make fun of him. I just never understood that position.
Unfortunately, sometimes people make jokes about minorities or gays which they think is just being funny without any sensitivity to how it makes the target feel. And its not an uncommon thing for people to have more sympathies with certain ostracized groups compared to others. It could be for any number of reasons.
i suggest you guys do some research on the psychology of bullying, you may find some answers to your inquiries
Let me repeat... Christians don't show up until the book Acts in the bible. The laws contained in Leviticus which Northside Storm keeps spitting out in ignorance was for the Children of Israel aka the land of Canaan that was to be given to the Jews.
oh that's convenient. Well, the Bible's strongest passage against homosexuals is actually in Leviticus. AND the other passage is dubiously interpreted... 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." ohh that's quite a list of other people we should be denying equal rights too on the by if that's what we're going for, no? drunkards, greedy, slanderers and adulterers? How about this, if you cheat, you can't remarry and/or you face chemical castration?
I'm tired of people lessening the struggle of homosexual people. Homosexual rights has had to go through as tortured of a struggle as civil rights, even if for some damn reason, you think that every struggle for human rights has to be placed on the same level as the most well-publicized one. For the Birmingham campaign, there was Stonewall, for MLK, there was Harvey Milk, for Emmett Till there was Matthew Shepard, for shameful racial medical experiments, there was lobotomy and chemical castration for homosexuals, for unequal jail time for blacks there were sodomy laws and criminal penalties for merely being homosexual. I don't want to paint the brush at a 100% level, but people who want to diminish the gay rights struggle as something "lesser" and "trite", an annoying byproduct of our times, need to look over the facts and the history, and reevaluate their opinions. No, they're not totally equal etc. etc., and I don't want to play some Olympics of suffering bull****, but seriously, people need to stop diminishing a movement that is rightfully at the forefront of America's attention.
Convenient? Lol. You don't just move from one argument to the next. You're obviously lost and confused about how the Bible is written, maybe do some research first before you point out "flaws" in the way Christians follow it. Educating yourself is key before making ridiculous hyperboles like the ones you posted earlier in this thread.
The proper answer is actually--- The bolded basically sums up this up more eloquently (thanks StackOverflow for having a section on religion (???)) I advanced one simplistic argument to counter the absurd argument of another on the ground of religion, which is an intellectual exercise with no practical application. (but yes Rox11, Christians do pick and choose their sins). Let's not waste both of our times advancing that, lest I stray through the weird non-code sections of Stack again, as I didn't even mean to pick holes at ALL religious interpretations (though you're damn right I will poke one at someone who says disrespecting gays is more acceptable then disrespecting blacks because the Bible says so). Both of you inform me when biblical law overrules the Constitution, and the 5th Amendment specifically. Until then: i wish you happy holidays, and be merry!
