To be fair, the lofty standards us 99ers set is completely unattainable.

Killer Instinct is free to play! Give it a download. Also, most games have demos you can download, the Dead Rising 3 demo came out recently.

Xbox One can be controlled by most Universal Remotes, including the Logitech Harmony series. The Xbox One has extremely strong IR blasters (3 red dots on your Kinect), the PS4 doesn't have IR.

I purchased Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag the other day and have put in some time with it. I have to say it's pretty damn fun being a pirate! It's lived up to my expectations and then some. It just feels like they have packed a lot of gameplay into this game for a 20GB game. It feels well worth the money spent. I look forward to killing and pillaging some more over the holidays. The sea combat and character gun/hand/sword fighting functionality is more than I could have hoped for. I definitely feel like a pirate when I'm playing it.

    AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the game I got. I've smashed it, huge hours into it, and have only just got 50% of the way through the game. Great value for money.

The thing I like about it is that I looks amazing and yet they didnt go away from what made Assasins Creed games great. The game play.

You'll really enjoy it. I've yet to play it online but have had heaps of fun with it.

Want backwards compatibility? Simply plug your Xbox 360 in to your Xbox One. I posted this in the console wars thread, and thought some might find it interesting.

A seven and a half minute video about how some nerd ran his Xbox 360 into his Xbox One TV app via HDMI...and this is what we're calling backwards compatibility? LOL. Surely, that was posted as a joke. Gee...who couldn't figure that out?

I also didn't buy a Xbox One so I could have a Xbox 360 set up right next to it. The point is to get the Xbox 360 the hell out of there. The hell I did.

I have Dead Rising 3, and it is a great game. It had some major bugs and performance issues (when thousands of zombies were on screen) but the released a very large patch last week that fixed the majority of those.

I said it was simply a workaround, and some people will be happy with that. It isn't an elegant solution, but it works.

Technology progresses, and for the new gaming consoles to keep up with PCs and to please the developers who make their consoles successes BOTH Sony and Microsoft made the exact same decision. Feel the pain of not providing backwards compatibility now, to reap the rewards of more and better games in the near future.

Do you want to know what happens if they both planned to provide backwards compatibility? You would have gotten a marginal graphics increase, eight years after initial release of their previous consoles. Basically exactly what the Wii to Wii U does. And you can see by the sales numbers of the Wii U, that isn't what people want... and it certainly isn't what I want as a gamer.

In six months, no one is going to care about backwards compatibility when they are playing amazing console exclusives that wouldn't have been possible on hardware with one foot stuck in the past.

This is the EXACT same argument I had eight years ago, when people complained that the Xbox 360 didn't support every original Xbox game... and last time I checked, the Xbox 360 did just fine.

My girlfriend's Samsung AIO has HDMI in. If I plug my non-existent 360 into the HDMI in, does that mean her Windows 7 AIO is backwards compatible with my non-existent 360?

I see what you did there.

The point is, when you plug a device in to the HDMI input of the Xbox One, it allows you to have access to the rest of the system. So, you can snap apps while you play your Xbox 360, or switch back and forth between your Xbox One and Xbox 360 games with ease. You could be playing Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One and say "Xbox, watch TV" and have it bring up your Xbox 360 with GTA V running on it. So in a matter of seconds you switch between the two consoles, rather than having to change inputs on your TV. And you could go back and forth easily between apps and such.

That is the point. Other than having to pick up a different controller, an Xbox 360 plugged in to the HDMI input of your Xbox One gives you the exact same functionality of playing Xbox 360 via emulation on an Xbox One. Emulation that would be a substandard experience when compared to playing it on the hardware it was developed for. Emulation software has and never will run as smoothly and great as running it on the original hardware.

That's nice and all, but the whole point of backward compatibility is so that you can get rid of your old console since you'd be able to play all of your old games on your new console.

Why get rid of it? What are you going to do, sell it? Walmart had brand new Xbox 360s, the latest models for $99 - what are you going to get for it?

I would think that the point of a new console would be to play new games and experience the new system, not be stuck in the past.

Ask 100 console gamers who had a PS2 and got a PS3 or had an Xbox and bought an Xbox 360 if they EVER played their old games on the new systems. I'd put money on at least 9 out of 10 saying no. The fact that neither Sony nor Microsoft supports backwards compatibility this generation proves that.
