The day I started hating the mavs is the day I became a true Rockets fan. It was when we got jipped by the refs in the 05 playoffs.
No, I don't hate the Mavs. I live in Dallas and watching Dirk play is something to behold - like watching CP3 play. But I can state unequivocally that Mark Cuban is a jackass.
You don't realize how badly I hate the Mavericks. Ok. Maybe I wouldn't destroy them, but I would go Bynum on them and try to make it subtle. Elbow to the ribs.
Dirk is special but I still would not give my best years to a team with a 36 year old and Vince Carter another 36 yr old.
I hate losing to the Mavs. All the "I think Dallas is a better city" people love to use anything to trash Houston, including the Rocket's losing to them.
Houston is always a better city than Dallas no matter what. The playoff in 2005 really hurt. Ref cheated.
Hard to hate on that team...really aren't any "jackass" players. Liked Dalembert when he played briefly for Houston. Dirk is just so, so good. Seems like a good guy, too. And Carlisle is one of the best coaches in the game. Hope we avoid them during the playoffs, but rather them than San Antonio I suppose. Actually pretty amazing...considering both of Houston's geographic "rivals" (because seriously, professional rivalries are overrated), it seems that all Texas teams are well-run, professional, and are without "hateable" players (though I'm sure there will be detractors for Harden and Howard).
Dirk is never a good guy ever in my view. Did you see what he did to Omar Casspi in the preseason? and he complain to referee so many times that he think he didn't foul, but he did. I like Dalembert, but not Dirk.
No the Mavs aren't the real enemy. It's the fake Rockets fans who don't care if we lose , but are giddy Jeremy Lin scores 20 points and starts. These people are worse than any Mavs/Utah fan combined.
It's not like our team is healthy right now. We're going to continue to lose games to average teams like the Mavs until the Omer saga ends and our players get healthy. I would be much more upset if we had lost this game with a healthy roster.
Yeah, well in the days of clutch city we had Hakeem Olajuwon who was the best player on the planet. Our team today more closely resembles the Golden State Warriors of that time period, a team that had a nice collection of players but no real dominant superstars. It's easy for fans to unite when you have the undisputed best player in the league on your team.
He was with the Rockets for like 17 years plus he played ball at U of H. He was already part of the city, a true Houstonian. But we had heroes where tough and gritty and likeable and unique.
