Make the initiative to learn and discover, I'm not your dad nor you are 3 years old, you can do it, so do it.
I think I'll just go with this. http://www.apa.org/helpcenter/sexual-orientation.aspx [rquoter] How do people know if they are lesbian, gay or bisexual? According to current scientific and professional understanding, the core attractions that form the basis for adult sexual orientation typically emerge between middle childhood and early adolescence. These patterns of emotional, romantic and sexual attraction may arise without any prior sexual experience. People can be celibate and still know their sexual orientation — be it lesbian, gay, bisexual or heterosexual. Different lesbian, gay and bisexual people have very different experiences regarding their sexual orientation. Some people know that they are lesbian, gay or bisexual for a long time before they actually pursue relationships with other people. Some people engage in sexual activity (with same-sex and/or other-sex partners) before assigning a clear label to their sexual orientation. Prejudice and discrimination make it difficult for many people to come to terms with their sexual orientation identities, so claiming a lesbian, gay or bisexual identity may be a slow process. What causes a person to have a particular sexual orientation? There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation. [/rquoter]
i mean durvasa, there's really no point. As soon as there's an overwhelming scientific consensus, it'll be because researchers can get increased budgets and grants due to GLAAD financing free Belves for the gay agenda, and/or some other obscure reason

This does not address at all the question: if marriage, as "natural order", for procurement purposes, then what about couples that are infertile (for health, fertileity, or age reasons? Or even the basic "don't want children"? Should those couples (including gay couples) not get to marry? Yes, our country has a checkered past. And it sure appears we as a country are slowly progressing forward with gay marriage, just we did did with respect to interracial marriage. But my question remains unanswered... how does it feel to be lumped in with those that resisted change based on past belief systems? Completely understand the religious opposition to gay marriage. The Bible lists all sorts of sins... playing football could be outlawed. Anyone that had a job on Sunday is sinful. People that wear clothes made from different materials... its a pretty lengthy list. I wouldn't be too surprised if you went back in time and found people with very strong religious beliefs that opposed interracial marriage, and (wrongly) used their religious beliefs to support that opposition.
Gotcha, I guess I semi-misunderstood your first response. That is a fair and logical point of view. I think many pro-gay people picture Christians who are anti-gay or to be more appropriate, non-pro-gay, as the idiot Westboro Baptist anti-gay people. Vice-versa for Christian views of gay activists. Hah and I know what you mean about "Christians". I was raised Catholic but the people in the church are what really turned me away from traditional religion.
It should be easy for you to prove sexuality is a choice. WE'RE WAITING and I'm sure we'll continue waiting per bigtexxx MO because your function here isn't debate but rather the clown show. Roll on clown show!
I feel fine in being "lumped in" with those on the wrong side of history. I live the life I believe God wants me to live it, I don't care what other people think about it. I wish more gay people did the same. Live your life as you want, and who cares what Phil Robertson said? With that said, Christians are just as guilty of making a mountain out of a mole hill as well. The same goes for all of the various sins. I live my life based upon the defined sins I feel God has put in front of me. There is no doubt that different Christians interpret the Bible differently. I listen to what people have to say, and make my own judgement for myself, and what I feel God wants me to believe. A gut feeling if you will. In the end, I know that gay marriage equality is coming. My problem is pretty much the same problem many other Christians have. The term "marriage" is very sacred in the Bible (even though many Christians have been divorced, yes hypocritical), and same sex "marriage" skews that belief. I feel that if homosexuals would have sought equal rights, without calling it "marriage" - it would have been passed a decade ago. I'm fine with gay folks getting tax breaks, and benefits for their partners. I think if they would have just decided to call it domestic partnership or come up with a new word, this would have been done and over with years ago. Semantics? Yes, but the term marriage is extremely important in the history of my (and most) religions - so of course people are going to take offense when you want to change that.
Like I said multiple times Texxx, if you believe that homosexuality is a choice, then you believe that YOU also can choose between the two sexes. If someone can choose to have sex with both sexes, then that person is bisexual, thus you are bisexual.
Or maybe he thinks people are either straight or bisexuals, and those who identify themselves as homosexual are actually bisexuals choosing to forgo the opposite sex. But if that's the case, we can ask -- is being bisexual a choice?
Does this work with other things? If I feel like killing a robber and shooting him 5 times even though they went down after 2, does that make me a murderer? What if I feel like strangling my wife who won't stop yelling in an argument? Sometimes I feel like I can fly. Doesn't mean I'm a bird. Your argument is silly. It's not that clear cut. Actions define who you are. You can feel rich but still be broke. You can feel broke but still be rich. Feelings don't mean anything.
Seriously, texxx, wanna try a little honesty and respond to my earlier post? I have no agenda other than pure curiosity.
I think your analogy is a bit off. The examples you provided is all about restraint and has nothing to do with what you feel inside. If a male feels a sexual attraction to another male, that is something you cannot take back or wish away. You don't have to enact your homosexual tendencies to consider yourself gay - unlike your murder or flying analogy.
What if I feel poor, but I'm rich? Am I bi-rich? If you feel like having sex with another man and you choose to do it then you're gay. Let's say someone felt like it several times, but decided against it every time then he's shown enough restraint to be considered straight. What if he felt it and did it one time, but hated it and never did it again? I don't care how anyone feels when they're on their knees they're gay. Btw, p*rn is something else. I don't want to get into that discussion.
Again, its not sexual activity that makes you a homosexual. It's your preference. That is why when you see questionnaires, it's about preference.
I believe gays care what people like Robinson say because they feel discriminated against and his works simply continue to encourage that discrimination. Many of the same people that oppose gay marriage also oppose civil unions and domestic partnerships, so I don't believe it would have been over and done with decades ago. And many gays don't believe civil unions and domestic partnerships equal marriage. First, not all civil unions and domestic partnerships provide all the same rights and benefits of marriage. And still other gays don't want "separate but equal". For one reason, its not a certainty that they are all equal to begin with. And still other gays believe there is interpersonal and social recognition in marriage that isn't in civil unions and domestic partnerships.
Who is anyone to tell other people how to live their lives when its not imposing/impacting anyones life? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/CdU3ooAZSH8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Say what you want about Kevin Rudd, but hes spot on here. All the people that think being gay is a choice remind me of this vapid pastor. 'the bible also says slavery is a natural condition.'
