Rather just take hawes straight up at this point & forget the pick, we need a center can't keep playing Howard all these mins & hawes is mchales dream player for TT, 76ers can't trade asik to a west team in feb. since the deadline passed

would Rondo constitute our 3rd star? If so would the Rockets consider Lin / Asik for Rondo / Lee?

If Rondo comes back strong and moves Bradley to back up, would they consider moving him in a trade? Bradley / Bogans for Asik? As much as I hate Bogans, he is better than Brewer and his contract is unguaranteed after this season so he does not compromise the salary cap. Bradley is a restricted free agent next summer and will likely command more than mid level money and that could compromise the Rockets cap in summer of 2015.

IMO, sending Lin and Asik to the same team in the east instantly makes that team a play-off team (considering how bad the east sucks). Lin can play either guard position at a high level. Lin / Asik could help Brooklyn out as well they were willing to give up DWill in exchange but I'm guessing that is not going to happen either.

I'm quite sure both Boston and Philly have standing offers whenever Morey feels like trading Asik. The thing is, you know Asik will then be traded to a WC team before the deadline again. Both teams are treating Asik like an asset. Neither will actually trade for him for the sake of keeping him. Especially now that Rondo's still out for a while, and the team is losing.

*Sighs* I don't know why this misinformation is so widespread. There is a restriction for trade less than 60 days before the deadline, but it's more for the Rockets benefit than the benefit of teams getting Asik. It's also entirely pointless to the Sixers.

So here it is, from Larry Coon's CBA FAQ.

Is that true regardless of Omer Asik being traded again with no other player (contract) attached?

i.e., Asik + D-Mo to wherever, and Asik traded alone later?

If Asik can't be re-traded this year, it might be worth its weight in gold that Morey didn't already trade Asik. Couldn't imagine Asik on OKC. They'd slaughter everyone. (But what a showdown against Indiana in the Finals, ay?)

EDIT: Aha. See above post from meh.

Rajon Rondo is saying he won't be back soon at all. (Re: Ainge told him, We'd like to throw this season in the tank, if we can, although the other teams of the Titanic Division aren't helping.)

And as much as I'd like Rondo on the Rockets (more so than Harden, as very talented as he is, I'd prefer Rondo-Howard over Harden-Howard), I think Boston would be in their right to ask for Parsons (and we'd say no) or even Harden (just to stop the conversation, because if nothing else, Harden is probably bait for buddy Kevin Love; although I'd do it if those 2014 first rounders came attached, and because there's a lot of empty ocean between now and whenever KLove becomes available as a free agent).

Unless we're willing to wait til about February, Rondo's out of the question. I think Ainge might be telling the truth for once when he says he wants to keep Rondo. Maybe?

    EDIT

That same article talks about Thaddeus Young still being a prime option for getting shipped out prior to the deadline. I wouldn't be surprised, given Young's disappointment at not being moved to a contender (and thinking it would be the Rockets), that where there's smoke, there's fire.

Or where there's smoke, there's ashes. We'll see.

Another thing some people don't realize is that even though a trade may say these 4 players for these 3 players and 2 picks, that can be broken up into many trades, and doesn't have to be combined into one.

For example, if Boston recieved Asik they could flip him for someone that matches his salary and then a seperate deal could be Lee for a 1st round pick, which would combine to make a trade fair for both sides but indivdually meets the CBA rules.

You really think the Celtics would give up Rondo for Lin and Asik? NO WAY, Danny would be laughing.

Asik can be traded again and again and again before Feb 20th. His contract just can't be combined with other contracts in a trade by a team over the cap. For instance if we trade Asik to Charlotte, they can't combine his contract with Gerald Henderson and Josh Mcroberts and trade for Joe Johnson. They can trade Asik's contract however, by itself.

The reason we were wanting to get a trade done by Dec. 20th is so we could flip the players we got back in any sort of combination that we desired to. It was for our trade flexibility. We cannot do that now. However we can trade for a large expiring contract....say..Emeka Okafor and a couple picks and then at the deadline we could flip Okafor again and take in a contract of around $18 million.

Bradley is a SG and Rondo a PG. So Bradley wouldn't back up Rondo now that he's back in his natural position. Pressey and Crawford are back up PG when Rondo returns.

I dont think Boston will trade Rondo.
If they are looking for Asik to upgrade the C position and be competitive, why would the Celtics trade his best PG

I think a 3 team deal with the Sixers has legs

    To Hoston
    Hawes and Young

    To Boston
    Asik

    To Philadelphia
Dmo + 2 good boston picks and the Sixershas to take one or two Boston bad contracts

Asik, Lin, and DMo for Hawes and Wroten helps both teams. I wonder why it hasn't happened yet. Hinkie seemed high on DMo-- or maybe I had the wrong impression?

From the little I've seen of Wroten, he's got serious upside potential. He's only 20; heck, he might still be growing. Hawes would be McHale's dream stretch-4.

If I'm Danny Ainge the only one I won't trade is Sullinger. I would also try to sign Kris Humphries to extended contract for less money than 12 mill a year. I would use the remaining players on roster to acquire picks or young players. Give a young coach young players to grow with. So Houston what player combo do you want for Asik? Rondo isn't in any Asik deal though.

Hawes, and a 2015 top 10 protected pick, is fair. That protects Philly if they bottom out next year and still gives Morey a decent asset. The Sixers get a defensive stud who is just entering his prime. Hinkie is playing hardball, though, and good for him, that's his job, but Hawes is a rental, and that severely limits his value.
