While we're all having some fun with this, I would point out that I think there is a difference in discussing some of these things vs having some fanboy war. I think analyzing sales or comparing tech specs can be very interesting (with some potential for actually learning something), but I get the impression some people are very sensitive/opposed to those discussions, usually for the wrong reasons. Very rarely are people trying to argue that because "PS4 is more powerful" or "Xbox is a stronger brand in NA" (insert other examples if you'd like), then the other console is crap. Objectively, there is one console that is more powerful, and we also have hard data on things like sales. But that "data" doesn't mean people can't enjoy one or both consoles.

A lot of people don't care about those things, and that's fine. But I don't think we should necessarily label these discussions as fanboy wars, or anything like that. It isn't pathetic to discuss these things (assuming one isn't trying to claim one box as "superior" over the other anyway).

how long were the quarters? I scored 90+ with Irving in 5 minute quarters, and no, it wasnt on rookie difficulty. If I played 10+ minute quarters, I would have scored 200 easily.

This is in My Player mode on All-Star. 12 minute quarters. Halfway on my first season.

    This is my take....

These consoles are apparently much closer tech wise to each other than PS3and the 360....where there was little difference to be seen in terms of graphics, game play or anything else really.

The PS4 and XBone are both great gaming consoles that will have a longer "life" than any previous gen of console. Their games already look amazing graphically and how they play comes down to the game makers. So gaming wise, there's not much to argue about at all.

You'd probably give Xbox and edge with how it handles online play and buying content, but Im hearing Playstation has caught up a lot of that ground Xbox had over them which is great. On either consoles you're not missing out.

I chose an XBone because I liked the direction they are going in with having the console as the hub of your lounge room. I think eventually Playstation will bring many of the same things to the PS4, but for now, XBone is set up for it from day one.

I think anyone whinging about the Kinnect obviously hasn't used it. It is really good. I never used the Kinnect for the 360 but the one on the XBone recognises you easily enough. The voice commands work really well once you work out how fast to talk to it (A but too fast for an Aussie, but anyway!) and to be playing a game and say "Xbox, record that!" and it records a clip of what you are doing....it's fantastic.

It's not an addon. It's part of the system. It works really well. To think they will only make it better is exciting. Forget he console wars....I'm not thinking about them as I'm playing games. Just the direction these feature take your entertainment, it's amazing.

I think this has been pretty much stated as false by everyone.

Today I was watching the Texans on the Xbox One through my TV app (through a U-verse box). With the NFL app "snapped" to the side of the screen alternating back and forth between my fantasy lineup and score, and NFL Red Zone.

Seriously, the TV integration and voice recognition make Xbox One the easy choice. Both will play games, and both will play them great. But Xbox One's entertainment and multimedia integration puts it over the top. It has completely changed how I consume media.

Yes, my opinions are biased, but just about everyone loves the TV and voice integration on Xbox One.

And I'm sorry, but this is the funniest video I've seen about any console in a VERY long time (FYI - Before you rage you can turn this feature off).

That happens on PS4 as well (technical fouls if you curse)....

On a different note, the Xbox One seems more 'next gen' , whereas the PS4 felt like a PS3.5

My friend(soon to be roomate) has both systems. Played pretty much every exclusive the past couple of days. Exclusive games were "meh" at best. I would wait for better games

    XBone
-Dead Rising 3 was fun for a while but wish there was more variety and the game has lots of technical bugs
    - Ryse is a clunkly mess and felt like a rushed game, graphics look great tho
    - Killer Instinct is okay fighter but not a fan of the design of the fighters and the overall look of the game
    - Forza should've had more tracks, more cars, and hate microtransactions.

    For PS4,
    - Knack had potential but they blew it with the overall gameplay
    - Killzone looked amazing graphics wise but was fun only for awhile
    - Resogun was a suprise hit. very addictive but doesn't fill in the crave like bigger titles do

Games were a wash for both Xbone and PS4

and as for the systems itself. I definitely notice a difference between 720p and 1080p but the difference was relatively minimal but it was noticeable on COD ghost(which i thought was a horrible game with outdated graphic engine). Not feeling the Xbone new controller. It is okay and takes time to get used to but the 360's controller was way better, should've kept it the same. PS4 was vastly better than the PS3's controller. The multimedia features were better on the Xbone and has some cool voice control features that works most of the time, just not sure if it was worth the extra 100. Xbone does have more potential to say the least but hey its microsoft

The Vita doesn't sell well, but I own one and a 3DS and I really like them. I don't like playing on a TV though, so that may be why I prefer devices on the go over consoles like the PS3/4. Another factor is I love RPGs (mainly JRPGs and SRPGs), and most those games are on mobile systems and I find them more fun on the go.

Are y'all 12? Why are their dumb fanboys who defend these billion dollar corporations?

I had the Xbox, and the Xbox 360 and I loved them and always said Playstation sucks... Than I got tired of my 360 breaking every 4 months and having to send it in. So I sold the one they sent me back and bought a PS3 and it is a tank!

I have cats and they would jump on my 360 and destroy my games but they few times they have jumped on the PS3 nothing happens. Xbox has cooler games though IMO.

How long were the quarters? I had 92 points in 8 min quarters vs the heat, and missed the first 6 mins of the second quarter.

My PS & original PS2 both crapped out on me (after having them for years, so not complete crap, but not within warranty period)

The RROD was just a terrible problem. I don't think the original XBox had those same problems, and it isn't logical to expect similar hardware problems now. Software on the other hand, MS has proven throughout their history, launch now, fix later.

I think that applies to many of the software and games released today. I mean, look at Skyrim. Modders had to fix the damn game themselves because Bethesda released a ****ty product. Now, EA is getting sued for BF4 for releasing it too soon (and once again, a bug ridden mess).

That's some unrealistic bull****. It seriously bothers me that you can play like that and pretend this game is based off of reality.

I mean, no way in hell Anthony Bennett goes 6-9 and scores 13 points. No way in hell.

So, what is the argument against having the Kinect 2 bundled with the XBone? What's so bad about it being added with it instead of having to buy it separately?

I was a Gamestop recently and the guy who worked there was telling another customer he would NEVER buy a XBone unless they had a version that didn't have the Kinect with it. Seemed a little silly, but maybe I'm missing something.

It is called brand loyalty, and it exists across all mediums. Fans of things of course want others to like what they like. It is no different than rooting for a sports team or anything else. In this case, the more successful a console - the better games that console, and thus it's players will get.

With that said, most console players like what they like and don't care what everyone else is playing. I think the PS4 is great, and I'm glad it is there. Because if it wasn't game makers would be resting on their laurels and doing sub-par games or lousy ports of the PC games.

With that said it isn't your Xbox's fault that you have ****ty cats. :p

Microsoft knew they'd catch flack for bundling Kinect, but that initial pain will be rewarded in the long run - as they plan on Xbox One of having a 10 year release cycle, as with the Xbox 360 (8 years and counting).

Microsoft's stance is Kinect 2.0 will change how we interact with our devices (Not just the Xbox One and all of it's apps, but also whatever you plug in to the HDMI input). That technology will eventually make it's way in to other parts of our life, including our computers, tablets, phones and appliances. Microsoft knows this.

Game consoles haven't changed all that much since the days of Pong. You have a console, and controllers which connect to the TV - and that is pretty much it. The Dreamcast added internet connectivity for the first time - but again, other than that not much has changed in nearly 40 years. Until now.

The Xbox One changes how you interact with your device(s) and how you play the game. The HDMI input is also a stroke of genius, because they can extend that interactivity to your favorite device. For most people that will be their TV box, but you could plug in your 360, or another game console as well and control and play it from through your Xbox One.

The technology behind Kinect is brilliant, and world-class. Microsoft knows that, but they weren't going to have a Kinect 1.0 fiasco on their hands again. The problem with the first Kinect is, developers didn't spend time developing for it because not everyone had Kinect, and not everyone used their Kinect if they did. It was limited to "gimicky" functions like Dance Central and other physical games.

To get over that hurdle, Microsoft decided to bundle the Kinect 2 - so developers would be forced to pay attention to it. This is further proven by the fact that they "required" for it to be plugged in at all times, until people cried about it.

To help sell this idea to the consumer they improved voice commands tremendously. It isn't perfect, but their "Cortana" personal assistant is going to change that game in about 6-12 months. Will early adopters have limited functionality with the Kinect on Xbox One? Yes, like any early adopters of new tech. However, Microsoft gave a year of Xbox Fitness for free to again, help ease this transition period.

Game developers are already doing some great things with Kinect and I gaurantee in few years everyone isn't going to think twice about Kinect being bundled. Meanwhile, the PS4 camera will have floundered for the same reason the first Kinect did.
