I though the same thing not saying that they are a big time team but they should at least over 500 and in the East too! ..lol
If you're a true nba junkie, you know why Detroit struggles. If you are a fan, you are perplexed why they don't do well.
It's a great front court for beating Indiana (i suspect that's the reasoning behind it), but their back court is league leading awful. By not extending Monroe (and just using his $5.5m qualifying offer), it gives them several million extra in cap space next offseason to try and top up their bench and guard play.
I follow this team so I can tell you, they're too young and inexperienced. They have the youngest starting lineup in the NBA. Which makes them inconsistent, considering they beat the Pacers and Heat but lost to the Bobcats. They have four new guys in the starting lineup and a new coach. They're trying to build a defensive and athletic team that scores in the paint which requires patience. This team will be dangerous in the next couple of years though
I think San Antonio and Detroit should do this trade Greg Monroe+Kyle Singler for Danny Green+Kwahi Leonard Why Spurs do it? They get a big man to replace Duncan, who can play both Center and Power Forward. Players like Leonard are a dime a dozen so they don't lose much there. Duncan can also teach Monroe the ropes. Why Pistons do it? To move Smith to the 4, get a 3 and D small forward, and a shooter.
Joe D has been getting too much of a pass for too long. Mo is a great guy but an inadequate HC. Why was J-Smoove signed? Huh? This is a team that would seem to be pretty good in the Least. They aren't. They need: new GM. New coach. New assortment of players. I saw much of last nite's 2nd 1/2, none of the 1st. Why did their Big 3 (sic) play a total of what, 87 minutes? IMO it should have been 100+.
Might actually make sense, so I hope it never happens. BTW - - would Pop be willing to pay TopDollar for Monroe in July? Big question, I'd think.
That's a good point. Joe-D has gone through some bad, bad seasons where most GMs would be fired. I guess the days of Rip, Chauncey and Sheed gives the owner continual confidence in him. Personally, I think signing Josh Smith is a good move. He is under-performing, but I think you have to go after Josh Smith if you're trying to be competitive. He was one of the best free agents available. It seems like they have too many similar pieces in that frontcourt, and there's just not enough room for everyone. Greg Monroe is going to be a star in this league. He's still young.
That trade would be a grand slam home run for the ages for the Pistons. Problem is, Monroe wouldn't fit next to Howard any better than with Drummond. Morey definitely won't make that trade.
It will be great for the Pistons for sure. Drummond in my opinion can develop like LaMarcus Aldridge. He is very skilled, and a real quasi-4/5. Solves our back-up 5 and starting 4 issues in one go. He is way more skilled than Asik albeit not near his defensive impact. I'm 50:50 on it, but if we solve two positions with Parsons for Monroe, Asik can be traded for wing help.
Joe D's best trade was effected when whatshisface, a 5 IIRC, vetoed the deal sending Iverson to Detroit allowing that championship team to become just that. A long time back BTW. Smith is not a fit. Who ever thought he would be? They need to trade Monroe for a stud, yeah I know Big for Small, and get this team lined up right on the court. I wish (sigh) Asik/Brewer for Monroe/Stuckey (money, not talent there). I'd sure like to see Monroe fill the bill OA refused to oops, couldn't.
Drummond is nothing like LMA, who has always been a very skilled PF who prefers the perimeter. Drummond is strictly a C in every sense of the word, not a 4/5. You are aware he weighs 270-280 lbs, right? Saying he's more skilled than Asik is saying nothing at all. Parsons is a glue guy who does too many things well for the Rockets. Monroe is not the kind of PF the Rockets need next to Dwight. Pistons would do the trade in a heartbeat but Morey knows better.
If both teams are smart they will do the trade. Spurs will need a big man to build around and Pistons have to fix the spacing and Smith at the 3 problem.
Too bad Jsmoove decides to sign with pistons to play SF. I believe having Jsmoove playing PF will suit him much better. Yes his shooting % have drop to all time low, but his defense is what you really hope for in a Rox uniform, as other than Dwight, no one plays defense.
