A player shouldn't openly question the coach like that. I guess Stevens, being a young coach straight out of college basketball, still doesn't command the respect of his players.

Courtney, my man, that's the difference between being a valued member of a team (like Avery Bradley) and trade bait (you).

Coaches have never treated players equally and never will.

i think morey wants a second pick (even a not so great one) that can be used to package lee in the 2015 offseason.

I know people keep talking about Court's contract, but given the minutes and right situation, we all know he is a very capable starter and consistent backup.

I understand that Morey wants to have flexibility, but I liked the alleged Bass and Lee + pick deal.

People sleep on Bass, but if you've followed him beyond the stat sheet, you know how he would do in our offense. He is a good pick and pop player, makes his jumpers and rebounds. His post defense is also underrated.

Same with Court. He is underrated as a ball handler, defender and scorer. You give him a decent screen and he can be a lights out shooter. Plus, he is an exceptional teammate.

I wish we had more room and money to have at least brought one of those guys here. In a new environment, you never know how a player can turn things around.

Omri hasn't had the best year, but in comparison to last year, look how Houston's been a great rebirth for him.

Same for AB...terrible times in Phoenix, came back here with a positive attitude, and now he has a huge role. Same goes for Cisco. Rough years in Sac town, traded here and gave himself more time in the league.

I guess I just figure that some longer contracts are worth it in the long run if the output that comes with it takes your team deep into the playoffs.

I agree with this Post, except for the CLee part. As one who willfully watches the Cs second to the Rox I don't believe in Lee's game. Maybe it is just confidence and consistent minutes (or is that consistent minutes and confidence?) but he is not destined to have consistent minutes were he a Rocket.

Bass is greatly undervalued. A good, solid pro.

That's fair. I'm sure you watch the Celts way more than me. I lost interest when they got rid of Paul.

How do you feel he did when he played for us years ago? When their were injuries and he was starting, I was impressed with his ability to handle the ball and be a scoring threat. I thought his defense was good, too.

I'm glad another person doesn't just judge Bass off of his salary. His jumper, though unorthodox, is effective and at times unstoppable. Putting him next to Dwight would be very complementary for spacing and scoring.

I'm guessing you never saw Bass play with Dwight in Orlando. There is a reason they traded him to Boston in return for an inferior player at the time (Big Baby).

There is also a reason Morey wasn't thrilled at getting Courtney and Bass in return for Asik and why every NBA writer says the Rockets did well to pass.

Why would Courtney Lee not want to play for McHale? He arguably had the best stretch of his career playing for McHale, which led to a lucrative contract with Boston.

Chris or Cliff? Just kidding. I actually became more interested because they have some nice pieces in need of some star power.

I thought Lee did fine earlier in his career. What I have seen last year and this is a guy who may just need the right situation. Or his skill set may have had a short shelf life. I suspect the latter, actually. If he were on an expiring I'd be OK with him. He. is. not.

Today's Bass is > than yesterday's. He is actually pretty good. Lee - - not so much.

Bass' contract is OK by NBA standards, Rox standards.

    Lee's contract is not.

If that deal had had any traction it seems inevitable that it would have been because of the high value of pick(s) [that apparently was not on offer].

And that's likely the best year that Courtney Lee has ever had in the NBA when you consider minutes played, production and team performance.

Courtney Lee has never played more minutes and put up bigger per game numbers except for his one season with a 11-60 NJN team. With McHale, Lee put up these numbers and played 30 mpg for an above .500 team. Lee's RAPM in 2011-12, -0.7, is also a career high.

It's not like Lee had Lebron-type production in one of his other seasons.

How is he going to get consistent minutes behind Harden unless you're taking about consistently 8 minutes.

We have great PG depth, and while Lee can defend some SFs he's mostly too small to defend most SFs.

Are you just saying that to say it? How is he any better? Everything about him looks identical to me. His jumper definitely isn't any better. He was "pretty good" 3 years ago.

I agree that HOU now is not the ideal spot for Lee minutes-wise. But the subject I responded to was "McHale." And McHale was very much a positive for Courtney Lee.

On this team, my guess is that Lee will have to beat out Garcia (and others to a lesser extent) for minutes. He would have to mostly play the SG with Harden getting more time at SF and Parsons getting more rest. And of course with Beverley missing you can have Lee defending the PG while playing next to either Harden or Lin (or Brooks).

Anyway, it's probably an 15-20 mpg job tops. Not ideal minutes wise, but perhaps easier to swallow when you are on a winning team and the SG you back up is one of the very best in the NBA.
