yeah it might be Cannan's time. I been waiting for him to be call up and now he has an oportunity to shine. Hope he does and he isn't so nervous like during the preseason. He barely shot the ball and even less from 3. Now that he has played on the D-leauge and has been hot as of late hope that carries to the games w the Rockets, I really do. And if he does it might mean one of our PGs might get shipped. which idk i like all of them but all of them have their cons and pros Lin- great scorer and drives so well into the lane / his defense mostly guys getting free after a pick. Beverly- okay defender / keeps energy always up he should balance it because he tends to make silly fouls or he tends to defend too aggressively. Brooks - great scorer but he loves to score and passing is a second thought. actually none of them passes too much
I just think he is being a ballhog in the D-League honestly (Williams). The assist numbers from Canaan impress me a LOT in that league. The lack thereof from Troy... not so much
expectations are low, maybe he can give us a boost while we are down but i think the expectations from some Clutchfans are to high.
IIRC Canaan was nursing an injury during summer league, which could have affected his preseason as well. And with the team trying to integrate Howard, developing the rookie would have been down the priority list at the point. Anyway, I have high hopes for Canaan. I think he'll be showing us something by the end of the season.
Will he bring the Nevada Smith offense with him? Shoot 3s without conscience? Hope he finds his range and then it'll be fun.
Troy Daniels is a shooting guard, and I say that in the most literal sense. Dude is attempting 12.7 3's per game, but he is shooting a sizzling 46%. Cannan on the other hand is a PG, but its hard to really get a grasp on RGV given the extreme style they play.
His scouting report reminded me of AB. Small shoot first of with unlimited range and quickness. I also think there were questions about his defense. Its about time Cannan got a shot though, very curious to see how he performs in the big league.
I would cut Brewer in a heart beat to give Troy Daniels a shot on the team. That is elite 3 point shooting. Will it translate to the NBA? Who knows until he gets a chance to play. Brewer does absolutely nothing at a high level so it would be a non-risk move IMO.
I know everyone will be complaining if Canaan doesn't get minutes, but if Lin is able to play then Canaan probably won't play. If Lin can't play we still may not see much of Canaan if Harden is playing. McHale has shown in the past that he will play new players if he feels they are ready. Parsons played as a rookie, and Beverley played shortly after we acquired him. If Canaan looks good in practice, I think McHale would put him in the game if needed.
Watching Canaan down here in the RGV I have seen his improvement and he will do well in his call up. I just hope he just relaxes and goes out and plays the way he has been playing down here.
The Rockets need to move soon because I can see Troy Daniels getting a call up pretty soon. Troy has been great down here and Rockets should lock him up before it is too late.
Some people claim the Rockets don't even need a PG with Harden on this team. Any Joe Smoe can play next to Harden as long as the "PG" lets Harden run the show and plays some D. With Lin/Brooks and now Canaan on board the Rockets should be fine.
Excited to see what he can do in the big league! He's put up some big numbers at RGV, even assists, but no doubt inflated due to their style. 9.2 assists and good 3p%.
