yeah I'm not sure what you dealt with. I have a Lumia 928 and it runs great. Has apps for everything I need (though I know the app ecosystem is limited...just doesn't affect me much). The camera is great

I do know people with HTC 8x's had a bunch of **** go wrong. That thing was a flop

It seems like MS has fix their supply issue. All Best Buys seem to have stock and you can even do store pick up. You would think Sony would beat MS in supply chain availability. MS may be hoping to steal some PS4 customers with availability of stock.

I'd put a full USB3 and MicroSD as big advantages of the Surface. You can also do a TON more on a Surface that an iPad can't do... oh, you know like type ASCII characters. But seriously, this video explains most of it.

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wG1b0yBJHLM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I have a Surface RT, Surface Pro and Surface 2... and my Surface 2 has replaced my laptop completely, and I don't carry my Pro anymore. The Surface 2 is that good.

Which killer apps are you missing? Windows Phone has the vast majority of major apps now, and for those lacking 1st party apps 3rd party publishers are filling the void. Windows Phone has easily the most passionate group of 3rd party publishers, some of whom have gone to battle with both Instagram, Vine and SnapChat.

Either way, the app ecosystem is going to continue to catch up quickly because of Windows 8. App developers can't continue to ignore an ecosystem with 125 million installations and counting. Those Windows 8 apps can then be easily ported to Windows Phone in a few days usually because of the shared Kernel.

I've had an HTC Arrive, Lumia 900, Lumia 920, Lumia 928, Lumia 521 and Lumia 1020... and I haven't had an issue with any of them, other than an initial batch of Lumia 920s that had a hardware problem. I had it replaced without issue. My friends and family also have about 20 Windows Phones between them, and everyone loves them. Windows Phone also continues to have the highest consumer satisfaction results, and Nokia's results take that even higher.

Windows Phone 8.1 is going to raise the bar even higher with "Cortana" (Siri competitor), the long requested notification center, making stand alone apps for Xbox Music, Xbox Video and Xbox Games. Right now all of those apps are bundled with the core OS, so they can only be updated when the OS is updated, that will change and allow for faster improvements across all core OS apps.

Of the top 100 apps out there, Windows Phone had approximately 82 if you count third party apps. There are some apps missing like Pintrest and an Xfinity TV app (they only have the remote one) but all in all the shared ecosystem with RT will rectify that. Furthermore, some of these third party apps are better than the original! (6tag vs. Instagram is one example, Chickens Can Fly vs. Angry Birds is another, although now all of them are available on WP8). The ground work is there. Cortana looks to be impressive and if the Kinect is any indication of how good it can be it will be exciting.

I like Windows Phone, but honestly I could also see myself going back to iOS or even trying out an android phone. If that makes me a Windows fanboy then I guess I don't know what fanboy actually means...

Question for XB1 owners. With Kinect recognizing you, is it possible to have more than one sign-in name per person?

I ask because currently on my XBox 360 I have three that I use personally. I have the main one, but I also have a second one that I use.

For example in MLB 2K13 My player my main account has a short stop. But on my other account I have an fielder that I enjoy playing. This way I can play both.

On Skyrim, I have a melee character on my main one, and then a spell user guy on the second account.

I also have an account that I use when I play games with my brother in the room as well. We both will share that account for characters we create and play together in games like Skyrim.

But if the Kinect on XB1 recognizes me, will I be able to do things like this?

I'm not sure if it supports that, but I'm not sure it should have to. You shouldn't have to create multiple accounts just to have 2 different characters in Skyrim, MLB2K, etc. I haven't played those games on consoles, but they shouldn't be limiting you to one character per account. Multiple XB accounts is A solution, but I don't think it should be THE solution.

If games are behaving like that, then I guess multiple accounts might be needed, and perhaps Kinect will need to come up with something for this as a workaround. But honestly, you should be able to do all that from one account. It is on MS and especially the game developers to make that a reality.

IIRC, NBA 2K14 supported something like 4-5 saves for MyCareer, although I think that was shared with MyGM. Honestly, that's pretty bad too. Shouldn't be limited to just 5 saves for that.

As far as I know, I can't have multiple characters on one account. There might be a way to do it, but I haven't found it. I can try and research it, but it wasn't readily apparent to me how to do it.

I cold maybe have a fake mustache and wig to wear when playing a second account on XB1.

Skimmed over some things online, and it sounds like you can have multiple characters in Skyrim. It doesn't do a very good job of organizing the saves though (might overwrite some saves between characters too). I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't very obvious. These games should do a better job of that, especially since it is obvious a lot of people will have multiple characters (it is encouraged even). I assume that starting a new game will result in your 2nd character being created (you just need to manage your saves between the two characters).

Some people were recommending setting up a new account just to better manage that stuff, but then you run into the problems you're talking about.

Re the question about multiple accounts..

The box doesn't 'recognize' you by appearance unless you specifically tell it to do that.

So, you could choose maybe one account to be recognized, and have a couple others and tell it not to recognize your face. That should work.

This is your best option. In fact, you don't even need to have the Xbox recognize you, you can just say "Xbox, sign in as gamer A" and "Xbox, sign in as gamer B." You can disable the facial recognition sign-in all-together.

On my Xbox One I have my profile, and my two nephew's profiles who have been here a few times to play. I can sign in as any one of them at anytime just by saying "Sign in as..." or going to the top left of the home screen.

Looks like they updated the Blu-Ray player and it seems a lot more stable now than the launch version.

Battlefield 4 patch seems to have stabilized that game on the Xbox One. Finally got around to really using voice commands to record clips and switch between the Game DVR and BF4. Fairly seamless, however, MS making huge improvements to this function. Can't wait to see where it goes.....

Tried the bluray and I know it's just playing off a disc but do you guys see an improvement in picture quality? I played an old film on bluray and it looked better than it ever did, lol. Oh for those that have Deadrising 3, how the hell do you beat the boss with the giant motorcycle vehicle with the machete wielding in the front? I think it's chapter 3 or something.

As far as picture quality goes, I didn't notice improvement, but I thought it looked fantastic even before the update. The issues I was having with the Blu-Ray player were mainly glitches with some pixelated screens as if the Disc were scratched. There was also a HDCP issue that would come up once in a while where it wouldn't play the disc until I restarted the entire console. All of that seems to be gone though.

Okay, I have decided to return my PS4 next month (full refund) and get an xbox one around February, in time for the launch of titanfall. Hopefully they release a SKU that is cheaper and comes without the kinect.

Xbox One has Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5, and Quantum Break(?) coming out in 2014. PS4 has infamous (not interested) , mlb (not interested), drive club (not interested) , and the order (interested, but that comes out next fall) .

I'm going to buy the Xbox One, and then after my 1 year xbox live membership ends, I will sell it and buy a PS4 again once it gets better games.

There will never be a sky without kinect. Kinect is integrated into the system. People need to understand that.

it was rumored a while back that they were releasing a sku w/o kinect in early 2014.

if kinect isn't needed to use the xbox one, why force it on the consumers? and why not release a sku w/o kinect if many people will buy it?
