I like to own macs so I can drink my green tea at Starbucks and look down at the peons with their pcs.
Excluding two types of people; Gamers and heavy video editors, why would you need to spend more than a few hundred bucks? The vast majority of people use the internet for web browsing, basic communication and video watching. Why would they need a $3000 piece of hardware other than to say, "hey, look at me. Im a douche". You can build a $800 PC and last 5 years for most people. Id rather spend $2000 on a nice new large screen TV and $1000 for a decent PC.
And we got our first hater. How about you worry about what you do with your own money and your preferences instead of worry about others m'kay?
Been using OS X for a couple of months now and it's pretty cool. I'm running Mavericks on VMWare on an SSD and it runs like a champ.
I would love to have one, but would rather max out a macbook pro and trade the performance for portability. Still, those are some sweet specs.
I wish I had never owned anything but Apple products, they are so superior in every way. I have an I-Mac desktop, Mac Book Pro, I-pad, and Mini I-pad. Apple answers all my questions 24-7. Love it.
The Mac Pro seems more like a concept car/vanity car, which outside of the insanely rich, can appeal to startups who want to blow 80k for 4 or 5 of those stations and also attract spoiled and pampered IT rockstars (and those who aspire/pretend to be). The only use right now to justify in a cost/benefit setting is graphics design and rendering. It's definitely not for gaming. A Mac is still a Mac. Oh I know about bootcamp, but why? To show off how much money one can waste to look cool/tech savvy except she's still not running pure Linux? Just as Mercedes runs commercials to 90% of people who won't buy it, the Mac Pro will serve a similar purpose for the next 3 years to push Apple's brand. Seriously, a lot of tech dummies in here. Not that there's anything wrong with that, except when people can't take the hint that they're talking out their asses.
I have a 2010 Macbook pro, upgraded the RAM and my hd to an SSD. It runs pretty much on par with the new macbooks or better than the stock ones out. Macbooks last you a good 5-6 yrs if you use them right and know what upgrades to make.
