My wife just bought me a Mac Book Pro as an early Xmas present. It easily smokes every other computer I've ever owned. PC or Mac is personal preference as far as i'm concerned so I'm not going to knock someone for owning a PC but IMO the Apple products (while a bit more pricey) is a fairly large step up from anything else.
That makes complete sense; your new, expensive, top-of-the-line computer is faster than your old, cheaper computer. I'm not a Mac/PC fanboy as I own both. Macs are nice, quality hardware and Mac OS runs nice and fast, but you can get similar performance on a Windows PC.
I used to be a PC guy, until I was issued a Macbook Pro for work. It took some getting used to, but I'm pretty much sold. Mac excels in design, efficiency, quality, reliability, etc. Recently I spent $1,000 on an ASUS because my other laptop failed. I hardly use it... Surfing the internet, checking emails, and typing is a far smoother and user friendly on the Mac. The only thing I use my PC for is to store music and play PC games (once every 2 months). If I could redo it, I would use the $1,000 toward a $2,000 personal Mac.
I feel like Macs tend to last a lot longer than PCs, so yes while you can build a pc for cheaper and get same performance, the longevity of the Mac vs a PC is ridiculous on my exp (I have never owned a MAC, but a lot of my friends have). I have to buy another PC every 2-4 years because they crap out or w/e while my friend's MACBOOK PRO is still going strong. I just cannot afford to drop $2K on a laptop :-/
I think most people buy cheap Windows laptops expecting it to last as long as a $2000 MBP then complain when it doesn't.
Exactly...did they read the article or watch the video? lol. The Mac Pro starts at $3,000 and you could do a $25,000 configuration with a 4k monitor.
This how you know their target audience is not those two guys when they think Apple only made laptops.
This is ridiculous.... Have you ever built a computer yourself? You can pretty much pick all top of the line parts for the price of a Mac Pro desktop. Ive never bought a Dell or any PC but have built them myself. I am typing from a PC I built 8 years ago and its still going strong with no signs of crapping out.....
Depends on how cheap you get when building computers. If you build a computer right, you can make it last just as long or longer than Macs.
I was going strictly off of laptops. I didnt feel the need to make a new thread. I love my Desktop that I've built. edit: I just reviewed my post, I should have used better terminology. I meant Laptop where I put PC. I have to rebuy a laptop every 2-4 years.
I agree with you regarding laptops. This is why I usually always recommend a Macbook to people when they're considering laptops because the extra premium is worth the reliability and longevity. My current laptop that I'm on is a 2009 MacBook Pro which hasn't had any serious issues in my time owning this thing. Aside from the cheaply made charger, I've had no complaints. In contrast, I've seen people go through $700-$800 laptops that have slowed down/gotten messed up on them in 2-3 years because of either defects and/or build quality which wasn't meant to last.
LAWL, you people obviously don't know about people who still have old school Thinkpads. Also, this thread is about the Mac Pro which is a DESKTOP. Quit sidetracking the thread.
Agreed, own a rMBP and the Retina Macbook Pro is easily the best laptop out there but I run a custom build and could never justify the price difference for inferior specs. Hackintosh is the best choice if you must run OSX on your desktop...
I've always been a Mac user. 8 years running and have only owed 2 machines. An iMac and a MacBook. They are work horses and I still use my 6 year old MacBook today.
I have had my Macbook Pro for about 2 years now, and I still can't figure out where my damn files save to... That's my only complaint, really. I find the file structure of Windows/PC to be much easier to understand.
Calm your t***. I think everyone in here knows this thread is about a desktop. But to be honest Apple is more known for their tables,music players, and laptops. PCs and Laptops are pretty similar so I believe the conversation is relevant.
