Either start Lin, or bring in a new starting PG, Bev ain't cuttin' it.

i don't mind who starts but Lin should be getting the majority of the minutes, especially if Bev is playing non effectively through stretches. It's pathetic how short of a leash lin is on when compared to his peers. Bad stretch for Lin? Hit the bench. Anybody else having a bad stretch? Play through it.

When Lin comes back I want to see McHale give him a longer leash to work through his mistakes. If McHale can be patient with Harden, Bev, and Parsons, he can be the same with Lin. If Lin isn't or cannot be traded and is going to be here for a long while then its time to really start trusting him with the offense. Otherwise, trade him and bring in a vet PG you can trust to run the offense and split that duty with Harden.

How much longer is McHale going to give this "start Bev at PG" experiment??!!

Bev has proven he doesn't have the ability to start in the NBA.
1.5 assists a game and a 9 PER!!! C'mon! This is getting beyond a joke.

Lin is the much better fit with the starting 5.
If McHale persists with the Bev experiment then I must conclude he just hates Lin.

Enough of experimenting with starting line-ups!!!
Insert Lin in the starting line-up and let them play through him and develop chemistry as a unit!!!

    WOW!!! really!!!!

You just keep wanting to make this a Lin vs. bev..

If Lin were starting the only thing that would change is your comments... Why is Hardin not passing the ball to Lin... Why is Hardin playing pg instead of Lin... Lin cannot succeeded with Hardin...

As i've already stated, Chris Paul could be our pg and it would not help until Hardin changes his attitude. Lin will not succeed with Hardin, he will have the same problem with Hardin as he did with Melo. All 3 players have to have the ball in their hands and unfortunately their's only one ball.

Lin will not be the playmaker with Hardin on the floor.. If you guys want Lin to be the playmaker than he needs to go to Toronto or to a team where he can be main man on the court.

Bev is doing a good job and he's doing exactly what he's been asked to do. He's not the greatest pg in the league, but he's not he worst.

At this point I would think it is something personal. Tony Douglas closing in the 4th quarter and now Beverley is starting, and Harden playing PG when Lin is in with Lin.

"Bev is doing a good job and he's doing exactly what he's been asked to do. He's not the greatest pg in the league, but he's not he worst. "

so you say bev is doing a good job of "doing nothing'? that is his performance right now. he suppose to be PG, running the offense, creating for and finding his teammates. well, we all know he can't do it.

you argue that Lin and Harden can't co-exist. alright, can i ask you this: if bev playing with Harden, as his sidekick, bring the ball up, pass it to Harden, hitting a 3 or 2 once for a while, do you really consider this as "doing a good job?" bev playing alongside Harden gives Harden's freedom to do his thing. but we are asking Harden to be our main scorer and starting PG. he can do it, but for how long. why harden get more injuries these days? because we are asking him to do too much. well, freedom is good thing in a way, but this also create more dreadful ISOs play, no team ball movement. that is why we need another guy can create himself, be our playmaker, feeding open man. Lin can do just that. i am not saying that Lin is perfect, far from it.

to be fair, for a starting PG playing over 30mins a game, average 2 to 3 assists is in the worst category.

again, not about bev vs Lin, just want to find the right man to do the right job.

The more Lin plays in the position he should the better he will get and the better he will mesh with the other players. This opinion is essentially right out of the books on skill / performance development.

Bev cannot change the offensive schema and neither can Lin... As leebig and others have stated this is a iso offense.. The same as when Steve was here. It doesn't make a difference who you bring in to play on this team... The coach and the players have to change their mentallity of the game.

When Lin is in the game with Hardin, you guys get pissed that Hardin want allow Lin to play pg. Lin passed the ball to Hardin and hen goes and stand in a corner. It's the same exact offense....

The only time that Lin has the opportunity to be the play maker is when Hardin is not in the game. So by saying Lin should start instead of Bev will not change anything on the floor.

The only thing it will change is the discussion on this board. So yes Bev is doing exactly what he's asked to do.

Two completely different situations, Lin was running P&R a lot more in NYC, had the ball in late game situations, etc...

That was NY and before Melo came back....

When melo came back that's when the drama started... Again Lin ran into the same problem he has here... They both need the ball in their hand..

Why not trade McHale? Whatever point guard is brought in won't be used right. So what does it matter who you bring in?

EXACTLY!!!! The offense and the mentality of the team has to change...

They were playing great in pre-season and then the selfishness started when the regular season started...

The Lakers are fun again. I feel for Kobe but they play better without him. They beat the Wolves last night and their crowd was into it. If Morey wanted Lin so bad an paid him so well, then play the guy the right way. He's going to give you production. Houston brass needs to regroup about how they play all their players.

Lin is the starting caliber point guard but who is going to play with the bench? Bev is a solid defensive player and energy guy, but can he really run the 2nd unit or whatever you want to call when Garcia and Casspi come in.

Lin was brought in before we had Harden on the team. Thee isn't a gm in basketball that would prefer the ball in Lin's hands to Harden. Lin coming off the bench allows him to play his game. Like someone alreaady pointed out, you guys complained when Lin was the starter. Now you're complaining that he isn't starting. Reality is all you care about is Lin getting his and that attitude isn't going to sit well with Rockets fans.

i think the rockets had 6 assists last night, which pretty damn awful. Harden cant be your primary ball handler. how is bev not the worst starting pg in the league?? his numbers are terrible

Once again... Stats never tell the entire story...

If the entire team only had 6 assist then the problem is not with the pg, but with the offensive schema...

It's keeps getting pointed out, but some of you are just not understanding this... If you play an iso type of offense then the offense will struggle. No pg can come to this team and average 10 assist a game with this style of offense. So trying to look at some stats and then say a player is the worst is just ridicules.

Harden has had a lot of 6-8 assists games. Harden likes to be the main scorer and facilitator on the team. Both. Today's game is not typical of Harden, he usually gets assists, sometimes at the expense of others. But the Rockets as a team don't have anywhere near enough assists and ball movement.

There were a few encouraging signs. Parsons and Howard at times have really good chemistry and they had a Parsons feed Howard and then cut to the rim for an easy dunk or lay up play they ran a few times. Parsons has had some good lobs to Howard. T Jones has some chemistry with Howard and Harden, when playing OK, feeds Howard off the drive or finds him sometimes. Still, Bev doesn't do enough with Howard and the potential Lin-Howard playmaking is not being developed. But, even with these developments, there's a lot of Harden gets the ball and jab steps and it stops moving and then the team waits to see if he'll shoot, do a desperation pass, or playmake. When Lin is in with Harden things become confusing because they expect Lin to more or less get to the rim and aren't used to his way of getting guys the ball and there's not enough movement and passes going to open guys through movement. Lin becomes another version of Parsons in a way, not utilized right.

I don't view this in Lin vs Bev terms. I think most nights Harden can be your primary ball handler, in which case Lin playing with the second unit and pushing the tempo works great.

On a day like yesterday, with Harden being shut down by some combination of his ankle and Paul George, we needed a second play maker who could push the tempo, break down the defence, penetrate: that's Lin.
Unfortunately, Lin was injured. We missed that yesterday.
    Its about matchups.
