Omer Asik Trade. Rumors, Tweets and Updates. (Deadline Dec 20th)

Do you want crap deal done bass and lee for Asik?

 

Morey is just being Morey... Asik will be gone before to long.

 

No deal was available that would give them fair value so the team withdrew Asik from the market. The good news is he just hired a new and powerful agent (arn tellen?), so that dude has a lot of connections and might get a deal done with other teams. Asik still has a year left on his contract, if he's not traded now he might be traded next year as an expiring.

 

This past weekend I met up with a friend who I've known for years who has connections to NBA personnel. Years ago he was the one who gave me some intel about the Rockets looking to trade for Ray Allen, which never happened, but apparently talks were had.

Nonetheless, he said a couple of things that echo what is being said here (which he doesn't mind me relaying what he told me).

- Morey is trying to hit a "home run" (nothing earth shattering there, we all know that one).
- Morey places high value on Asik. Asik asking for a trade and reports of his unhappiness have diminished his trade value. (Again something that was speculated)
- Morey does not want to hurt his cap flexibility, which is why Thaddeus Young was never really in play, unless he was going to be traded in February. (Nothing new there)
- Atlanta does not want to give up Milsap. The Hawks are looking for a center, especially in the East, but feel like Milsap is one of their foundation pieces. (Again nothing new here either)
- The availability of Marcin Gortat was inquired about. (This one surprised me a bit)
- Morey definitely wants to send Asik east. (Nothing new here)

I'm sure the legitimacy of this will be questioned (especially when people question anything Doc Rocket has to say). Take it for what it's worth, thought the Gortat thing was interesting.

It was nice to catch up with a friend and hear some interesting news. The last thing I asked him was what is Morey's reputation around the league. He said he couldn't speak for everyone, but from what he's heard, other GMs are reluctant to trade with him until they feel like they've looked at all the angles.

No. Its means we couldn't find a satisfactory trade by our self-imposed December 20th deadline (the deadline for flipping acquired assets again before Feb.20.

From now till Feb. 20 (the deadline after which no more trades are allowed), we can still trade Asik and whomever but cannot flip the players we acquire until after this season.

The market for Asik may change. Morey thinks for the better but I'm more pessimistic.

Makes sense about Ray Allen, because Miami was involved in trade talks with Boston for Crawford. It was out in the media that they looking for a 2 guard. Vet dunleavy is on a mid level tax exemption $3 mill two years. Bulls signed him this summer motet could've went that route. Morey still has his but guess he was counting on Garcia at the vet min.

It does make clear how YOU work though... someone says something you don't agree with, you call them a LOF and fake fan. I can see why it's your "go to" move.

It's SO much easier to try to discredit someone by attacking their character than to engage in an honest exchange of differing opinion. And engaging in a real discussion might force everyone to consider the arguments and opinions of others. Of course, you're not really interested in those opinions, are you? Shout the loudest, call people names, and maybe you can cow them into being silent. After all, who cares about them if you can drown out the voices of those who don't see things the same way you do?

The irony.... a Rockets fan who's been around longer than you, yet you want to silence them through insults and name calling. And THEY are the fake fan...

 

He had that opportunity to go beast mode when we had that Twin Tower thing going on.

I think Morey was asking for too much and those teams declined. T. Young wants to come here, I would have trade Asik to the 76ers. Why keep a player that dont want to play here. Ship him off, we have a darn good team. IMO

Kanter and Marvin Williams?
