Why would Danny Ainge give any more than he offered for a defensive center he doesn't even know if he can sign long term? I wouldn't even give up that. I would use them for some thing better down the road.

You've got Lee, a journeyman backup SG.
You've got Faverani, an old rookie who is fairly useless
You've got Brooks, already washed up.

What is Ainge going to get for them????? They're terrible.

Big = valuable. Asik will always carry value simply because he's 7' and has proven his rebounding abilities. There were only 2 other centres who outrebounded him last year, and neither one of them can hold a match to him on the PnR defence.
He's a legit starting C, is in his prime, and a team is unlikely to get anything as good as him draft positions 8+ in any draft in any year.

There's your problem you don't know these players. Faverani is 25 years old and a rookie to the NBA. MarShon Brooks is 24 and a good shooter just hasn't been given the opportunity yet. I wasn't refering to those two, I'm talking the original deal Danny proposed of Bass, Lee and pick. I was saying he could put a package of Bass and Lee and whoever else including picks and get some one better. BTW, both Lee and Bass playing well this year.

Asiks value is overrated on this board, His value is not the same as last year.

We should at least get a serviceable players for this season since we are not a championship team this season. Lee is better than Garcia and will prob be our best Perimeter defender next to Brewer,Brooks can heat up and score as well when given minutes,Faverani is a serviceable C,he may not have Asiks defensive ability, but at least we will get a true Center, instead of having Smith.

Just wondering, how did you come to the conclusion that his value isnt the same as last year?

That is right. Asik refusing the play hurt his value, the fact he demanding a trade hurts Morey's leverage. The fact everyone knows he wants a deal now so he can make another later also hurts.

If we can get a big and a guard who can defend and shoot we will have to take it.

All you Bass and Lee fan boys can suck it. Obviously Morey disagrees with you people.

There may only be a 50% chance to convince Asik to come back and play hard and be the elite rim protector that he's been his whole career (he should certainly start trying if he wants teams to want to pay him on his next contract), but there is a 0% chance to convince Bass and Lee to be anything but ordinary. These guys have played long enough in the NBA that we know what their limits are now.

The Asik market may indeed be depressed right now. And it is so depressed that all you can get is this reported crap offer, which is worse than what Toronto got for Busty Bargnani, then you keep Asik and take your chances with his attitude.

It also didn't help that most of the teams that needed Asik's talent are in the West, and I would rather have Asik sulk on the bench than help Blazers or Thunder.

The alternative was Courtney Lee and Bass. Thank god Morey kept his head.

Come closer to the playoffs a team in a win now mode who sees Asik might be a piece that fits the puzzle will give us more then what they would right now. In febuary we might get a better deal.

i think we can trade Asik anytime as long as DM finds a deal..not necessarily getting players we can flip but rather keepers who can grow with our core

Man, did Courtney Lee really fall off that hard? I remember he was a stud just a few years ago, an athletic defensive specialist that could shoot the 3 well and had a solid offensive game, looked like he was going to be the next Arron Afflalo.

Morey didn't get a deal he wanted, so he decided that he's going to keep Asik...for now. Most likely, he'll trade him by the Feb trade deadline.

He is a ok role player, but he and Bass combined don't have anywhere near the same effect Asik has on a game especially on the defensive end.

Much more so than a sulking big who wont play for you.

This is why people like smeegol shouldn't post. No actual bb knowledge. Just blind homerism at its finest.

Teams closer to the trade deadline are NOT going to make a deal for Asik in a panic move to get their teams closer to the title. Not one GM is going to pull the trigger on dealing for Asik if he continues to leak stories about "broken promises" and not putting any effort on the court. GET it through your head, Asiks trade value is almost as low as it could be. Teams are throwing **** because teams know what the deal is. Rockets can keep paying a sulking, refuse to play for your team, angry, BACKUP center over 8 million a year or deal him for a bag of chips.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't think Morey is bluffing, though. I think he's serious about keeping Asik. He won't damage his 2015 cap space, and that's probably the biggest hindrance to getting something done.

And, once again, if Asik goes beast mode for 10-15 minutes a game, it will make it way way easier to trade him.
