He's better at copying Wikipedia than Rand Paul.

That has nothing to do with your original post or the thread title. You were explicitly talking about freedom of speech. Perhaps Santa will bring you a pocket Constitution for Christmas.

Just because I'm annoyed by your inane referencing of Wikipedia...

Never cite anonymous sources (i.e., scholars say...) without giving an indication of what you are talking about. The latin term for this is "ipse dixit", meaning "he himself said it." I should believe you because you heard it from someone who knows something.

if that's the case (which is dubious) then you will be happy to hear that striking down DOMA Section 3 is based in a religious context! Congrats on accepting gay rights.

As a white male from the south, I find a show depicting us as anti-gay, hunting, loud mouthed, and dresses in camo as insulting, stereotypical, and cheap.

I am glad the network took the show off air because I can not stand people from the south being seen like these people.

That makes no sense at all... Why is that a commendable attribute?

I respect a man who admits when he is wrong.

Every show that guy was on ended with a prayer around his dinner table, if he had said anything different about homosexuality it would have turned me off to him.

It's like Joel Osteen him-hawing around and refusing to answer when asked if homosexuality was a sin, there isn't much room for interpretation.

The homosexuality quote was far less hateful than the quotes about blacks of his youth IMO , not that those comments were hateful, just ignorant, he can't make a judgement on an ntire race of people based on the few he interacted with.

It's A&E's right to do as they please, but he never tried to hide who he was.

Also, let me be clear, what one does in their private lives is A-okay with me as long as no-one's hurt by your actions, I make no claims to any religion or God either. But if you want me to get bent out of shape over one man offering what is essentially his opinion on life then I won't.

The forcing of values by the other side (whichever the cause) is far more off putting to me.

Yes, seems pretty self-explanatory that claiming a minority group in the Jim Crow South was happier prior to equal rights and welfare is ****ing bigoted.

You had to twist his words in an attempt to dig yourself out of the hole you dug for yourself.

You showed your true colors. Quit making up stuff and own it.

Honestly, its not that hard to change the channel if you don't agree with the content of the show. Actually turn off the television and read a book...peace ;)

nobody is offended by the content of the show nor does any of this controversy come from anything that happened on the program.

We're going to applaud intolerance and ignorance now just because the man "being himself" and "holds to his values" ?

Why don't you go hand out some medals to the Nazi's and the KKK for sticking to their values too.

His values just happen to be in line with the Pope's, you know... Time's person of the year? He just doesn't say it as eloquently.

This gay man, sums it up perfectly.

he sums it up perfectly indeed, especially the part about comparing Phil to Pope Francis and the grown man's juvenile antics.

    (snort!)
