I like that he is staying. He is crazy valuable, more so with him on the team than Brandon Bass, and C Lee...

    I like it a lot!

Did Asik's "injury issues" turn off some GMs?

We don't even know if Asik was promised that and who really cares if he was. We are the ones who offered him the huge contract (edit) to a back up center playing 15 mpg with no offensive game. No one else was offering it. He needs to get over it.

Asik can always quit the NBA if he's that unhappy. He's just not that unhappy.

So he should suck it up!

You know 18 months ago, Morey was ridiculed for giving Omer a bloated deal. He gave him a chance, a trust, and an opportunity. Omer knew he had it in him.

The league KNOWS he's starting caliber. If he's a backup for the next 1.75 seasons, he'll still get a payday in 2015 FA from a new team and start.

What he might not get is a chance to win a ring though, this is his great chance probably. He should try to either a)fit with dwight b) do what it takes. And then in 2015, when he's no longer under contract...be free to do what he wishes.

It's clear his priority is playing time=money>>>>winning

Glad to hear....the best thing Lin and Asik can do is take the situation at head with the best of intention and play hard. They both will have a chance to start in 1.5 years.

    Asik,

Will be traded in a couple of weeks...

Morey is putting the pressure on Asik's manager to work a deal...

"You want your client out... Here's what I want in return..."

IF Asik plays - and plays well - then his trade value will rise by February, and we can probably swing a good deal by then, because there will be teams panicking, there will be injured big men out there, teams will be tanking and shedding salaries, etc. Nobody's desperate yet.

But if he sits on the bench and pouts, cries to the press, is a locker-room cancer, then his stock will plummet, and we will be looking at a Bass/Lee type deal and salivating.

It all depends upon how Asik reacts to this. He can help the team and help himself while he's at it, or he can hurt us and watch his career take a nosedive off the cliff. Hopefully his new agent will explain this to him.

Obviously this is pure speculation, but I think other GMs dont want to be seen by the rest of the league, much less all NBA fans as the one who got the shorter end of the stick by Morey...AGAIN. Morey has already come out better on a lot of deals he has been doing, so naturally every GM will balk at what Morey is asking now. Asik is a valuable piece, and what Morey was asking wasn't even that bad. But people know that if there is any kind of positive light that gets out from doing a trade with Morey that the Rockets got the better deal, it makes the other GM look bad. Hinkie helped us offload Royce, but he won't be pulling any more favors after that. I think Morey knew that and thats why he backed out of the deal that Hinkie asked for. Other GMs dont want to deal because they're afraid to look like the loser in the deal. Keeping Asik was the right thing, dont undersell your stock in the market when you the real value. Asik coming off the bench or preserving Dwight's minutes or in case of injury (fingers-crossed that never happens) is a lot more valuable then getting undervalued goods in return of Asik.

Hinkie and Morey never had a real deal.

Morey just wanted Hinkie to front for him, as if he had a deal. So then he could rise other team's offer.

    Hinkie obliged.

If his price was "above Lee/Bass/1st" then it could have been "the world" right? :)

this is going to be a giant cluster **** if Asik decides not to play. True we can suspend him, fine him w.e....but that will make his value drop like a rock and most teams won't offer enough.

The bad thing is he can claim injury but the bottom line is he sits. Might want to send Asik a Mandarin for Dummies book so he can start brushing up for his next contract. Or maybe he wants to be the Shaq of Europe after this and rule on the DMos over there...but still can't score...

Right decision is Morey didn't get what he wanted. Asik has to suck it up and earn his pay check. Part of the reason his value took a hit was because of his attitude.

If he plays there is no limit to where the team can go. When Howard is in foul trouble he will play and Mchale already showed if Asik is outplaying Howard he will keep Asik out there.
