I agree . Request beyond tonight won't get better . Maybe we won't get any offer . Some fans are thinking too much about next summer(s) . Love , Melo etc are just fantasies , for now ....

Trading asik for young or hawes is the best shot for now . I didn't like much boston's offer...

I don't see how he loses credibility or leverage. He put this deadline in effect with the hopes of getting assets to reroute at the trade deadline. No one offered anything substantial, and he's not about to make a trade just to make a trade. He will let his deadline pass and look forward to Feb. 20th.

The trades available today will be the same ones available until the deadline. Asik's value may go up and we may get more than some marginal pieces that will not really help us much, and ruin our flexibility.

he looks weak and it looks like he can be pushed around. if he couldn't make the deadline he shouldn't have put it out there. which he clearly did

I think it's the opposite. Had he just made a deal to make a deal then he would weak. Now he looks like he knows how to negotiate. If you don't get what you expect you walk away. I did assume there was a pre-deadline agreement, but if you understand why he made the deadline, you will see why it's not a problem to let it pass without making a trade.

The Boston deal was horrible...I'm glad that trade did not go through. That trade is something what Otis Smith would have done back in Orlando.

Morey and some of the members on the board know that you don't make a trade just to make a trade.

yes you are right you don't make a trade just cuz you need to but not following through the deadline causes all kinds of problems. what are you gonna be with asik now? do you really expect him to gain value?

Value will be naturally gained around the trade deadline. Even if it isn't, the same trades will be available, or Asik will just be sitting at home if he doesn't want to play. The trades that were leaks mostly ruined any flexibility, and it wasn't worth it.

If we actually keep Asik through tomorrow I think we should go back too twin towers and bring Jones/Casspi off the bench.

    Screech!!

Talks always die, and then one phone call later, they are back on again.

I don't see how the trade deadline helps there was a deadline and it did nothing now we have a disgruntled employee and it looks like we are a bully to asik

No thanks. I'd rather let Asik be dead weight on the bench for 75% of the games and have him off of it periodically then to go back to that train wreck. February is a couple months away.

This deadline is the last day for you to be able to package a player that you received on the real trade deadline day. That was the plan trade Asik for assets, and on the day of the real trade deadline package those assets for more. Asik's been 'disgruntled' all season. Either he buys in or not, but no need to rush into an investment if it's not the best for the team. The way you're thinking is the same other GMs are thinking, which is why we were low balled. They thought we had no choice, Morey shows that he makes the choices.

Not promising for real deadline? As in February 20th. I agree. Asik's trade value going to plummet further, especially the longer it takes and the 15 million balloon payment in his final year becomes more real.

It's a tough situation rox are in. I heard Asik's agent is the top agent which will make it harder for rox to convince Asik to play bench for 2 years in his prime and coming up to his biggest career contract.

Morey may rue not getting what he can right now (ex. Thad Young).

Interesting to see if Morey has learnt his lesson and change his approach when trading D-Mo and Lin coming up soon.

Asik's value is the same. Teams have always been reluctant to make trades so early in the season.

The shine from spanking new draft picks and free agent signings doesn't wear off until Jan/Feb then they start trade talks with actual activity ramping up nearer the trade deadline.

ok I agree with that but if I'm a rival gm what is gonna make me drive up my trade offer later? it's not like asik will be put in a role to increase his value or showcase his true value.

Injuries, playoff positioning or lack thereof, separate trading of their current big men. Could be an assortment of things. Not saying his value will go up, but a 7 footer who proved he can play has automatic value. And if all else fails I'm sure the same trades are there. But the possibility of getting something other than the trash we were offered is better than the trash we were offered.

Asik just needs to play 12 minutes a night, spell D12 and play D
It would be great for Rox over 82 games

Winning in the NBA takes more than 5 players
