He's been playing very well lately, his numbers are great 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assist, a steal and half a block. Shooting 51% and 41% from behind the arc (he's already made 42 3's), 71% on free throws. These are borderline all-star stats, very efficient, and he's only in his third season. Add on he's a solid defender, great in the locker room and even considered this teams leader. Really excited about him and his future with the Rockets. If he keeps it up and continues to improve i think he might be able to fill that last top 5 small forward spot behind Lebron, Durant, George and Anthony.
Chandler Parsons is an elite role player. He is not a star in my opinion. I think you are seeing his ceiling right now. His game though is based less off athletic ability and more so mentally. Expect these numbers for the next several years. Great as a 4th option on a championship team.
And he's doing it all with nagging back issues. Dude is a stud, he is the guy that holds the team together.
Obviously these "nagging back issues" aren't that serious since the guy is still playing most games, carrying models on the beach etc
JVG was gushing about him last night. He's been playing extremely well. He'll get recognition this year and if he steps it up a notch again next year he could get all star consideration. Not this year though. A strong playoff performance will help in that regard too. The playoffs are where players make a name for themselves.
I'm very impressed by his sustained good play. He came out of his beginning-of-the-season shooting slump and is playing great.
Actually I think that Parsons may be one of those players who slowly matures. Another 3 PPG, another RPG and he could be brushing all star. We shall see.

I'm sorry but Lin isn't near the level of Parsons. Parsons is a glue guy, a guy that makes every one on the floor better. A lot of what Chandler does doesn't even show up on the stat sheet. So no it isn't "de facto third"
Replace Parsons with "Lin" and you've got what every commentator has been saying since he first broke out.
Parsons is a player that's more similar to Marion or Odom than a traditional type of star like a Harden. He's not going to carry you on his back, but he can move off the ball and beat defenders one-on-one. Marion was probably Parsons' ceiling in terms of impact. Whether that's considered a star depends on how you think stars should be. If the Rockets were in the East though, he probably does get some all-star buzz.
I originally wrote like an essay about Parsons, but I deemed it a little too "negative." Instead I'll just say that Chandler Parsons is that dude and glad to have him as a Houston Rocket.
