I don't understand why Omer acting like he is an all-star type of player, the guy had a good season last year averaging 10 PPG and 11 RPG but bro you need to get a grip and stop acting like a child, Dwight Howard is 10 times better player than you'll ever be and any other team with the same situation they would have done the same and went after Howard.

Too angry to work? not a smart move.

Take Royce White as an example: He was too into #Protocol to work at the time. He actually got his bus but ended nowhere. Asik should be careful here.

I don't like the idea that Asik is too pouty to compete for his job. There is little way he beats out Dwight Howard, but c'mon Asik. It is poor character to not compete hard. What message is he sending any potential new team? "Don't meek me compete and promise me my stats or I will not play"?

The best way to get out is to be professional, compete his ass off, and keep with the trade demands, even publicly. The easiest way to get stuck on the pine is to Royce White the situation. Morey ain't taking the shaft for Asik. He might as well man up and earn his paycheck.

Like any business deal he should have got it in writing. Promises in business don't mean anything. He's got a contract and he's being paid. He should play out his deal and then sign somewhere else.

You guys are right it is a business, and that is EXACTLY how Omer is treating it, he is withholding his commodity to force an action that is beneficial to his business or him.

You can't complain about people doing what is right for themselves, when the org is doing the same.

    It is just business.

He's ruining his own value. Nobody wants a pouty little b**** who quit on a team talented enough to play for the title. Well except the Celtics who want to give us their trash.

Exactly. Morey treats everyone on the roster purely as an asset but Asik isn't allowed to make a decision for his best interests? He's already wasted two years of his prime playing 15 MPG, I don't blame him for wanting to prove himself elsewhere.

Loyalty doesn't exist in the NBA. Get over it.

What does that have to do with what I said?

The front office was always vehemently going after Howard, even before Lin and Asik were signed. I highly doubt they changed their mind on Howard when they signed Asik.

"Word is"... the lesser, more obfuscated cousin of "sources say". This sounds like complete bull**** to me. Morey had set up the previous two years (thanks to Howard's dumb decision to opt in to his original Orlando contract) almost SOLELY to pursue Howard. He was their main target from day one. There is no way he would promise Asik that, nor do I believe Asik (or at least his representatives) were dumb enough not to recognize what the entire media/fan base/nation realized was Morey's endgame.

We know he is mad, but does this justify what he has done? I don't think so.

And this is a bad business decision on his part. This approach puts his business interests in opposition the business interests of his primary partner, the Houston Rockets. To get out of his contractual obligation to the Rockets, he may need to just fulfill his job duties as much as he can while his agent pushes for a deal as the a Rockets are shaking they won't harm their own business for Asik's business of stat padding and working for the next contract.

He doesn't have that much leverage, here. Who wants a guy who puts rebounding stats above competing for a title?

As long as he's healthy, you can't ruin 7' of pure rebounding defense.

Would you like to sign such a contract which states that you are going to be the starter for the first year but not guarantee for the rest of the contract even if you remain a Rocket?

When this joker can back from injury, didn't he start? H$ll yes he started. All he had to do was play his heart out and make the best of this situation. But No he doomed it a failure before the season begun. Therefore it's on him.

F him I have no sympathy for him at all. We should have traded him during the off season.

Morey sending a message to the league, if you're not a superstar don't come here because you'll constantly be in trade rumors.

What Asik is telling other teams is if you trade for me, you're not allowed to upgrade your roster if given the chance.

I don't know if that article was totally accurate of what's really happened. But after Howard went to the Lakers, getting Howard was a very long shot even for Morey. Asik was probably the next best center on Morey's rank chart.

I wouldn't be surprised if Morey assumed that Asik would be our starting center for the duration of his contract. Whether he actually promised Asik anything is another story.

bait and switch. everyone would get upset. yes it's business but bait and switch is widely recon immoral and illegal in many business, so although in this case it's business and not breaking the law but bad faith is still bad faith.
