....Why is the word liberal even involved in the thread title? "Liberals" had nothing to do with the words that came out of this man's mouth. Heck, isn't it possible that a "conservative" decided to put dude on the shelf after his comments? Oh, wait...I forgot. In Texxx's world, liberals are neck and neck with the devil.
Oh, and I am sure Honey Boo Boo was popular too. And yet even that little girl had enough sense to not alienate viewers and cause her network to suspend her.
I'm going to use this as an example. Texxx, you are free to drop the word "F*g*ot" on this site. I'm pretty darn sure that if you did clutch would have grounds to ban you. Now in this case, you probably have enough sense to understand why Clutch would have grounds for doing so because he runs this site. He doesn't have to put up with it. A&E actually has a contract that explicitly states he can't do stuff like this, so in a legal manner, they probably have more of a right to do so. So stop with this victimization gay muslim atheists out to get privileged white men with their food stamps blah blah bs.
The office is not a "free speech" zone and A&E is considered his office. If I were were to jump on top of my desk and yell what he said, verbatim, I'd surely be justifiably fired.
Being very pro-business, I am all for giving a business the freedom to fire people based on their behavior and on-job statements, especially when covered by a contract. Next.
But wait, there's more. "I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once," the reality star said of growing up in pre-Civil-Rights-era Louisiana. "Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field ... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' — not a word!" Robertson continued, "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues." http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/-...lso-stinging-african-americans-173821415.html
Apparently Texxx believes in MORE government control on corporations on who they should suspend/fire. MARXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is like the stuff I remember from history in college when pro-slavery people would depict slaves as "Happy darkies singing and dancing in the fields."
Free speech- he said what he had to say without being stifled or imprisoned. Free press- GQ ran the interview including his vile comparisons of human anatomy. Free market- A&E decided it was time to end his contract on their corporate run television show. I fully support anyone who wishes to boycott A&E "Well I'm proud to be an American..."
A&E is a private company, they can do whatever they like... and the consumer/watcher can voice their support one way or the other. But as others have said, it isn't a surprise that a devout Christian believes homosexuality is a sin. A&E knew the family's stance on homosexuality and gay marriage from day one, they were just too busy reaping in the rewards of the most watched cable show of all time to care.
Besides the fact that I called it, lets see if tessie has the balls to come out and defend him for this. Its unlikely though, he'll go run in and hide like he always does when the facts come out.
